A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has issued an emotional message to fans after witnessing a young man die while she was filming this week. The 44-year-old revealed she decided to take a stroll along a beach in Montpellier, in southern France, after filming wrapped for the day, only to be met with "a lot of commotion".
She then recalled witnessing medics trying to resuscitate an individual, who she's since learned was a 19-year-old boy. Despite medics' efforts to save him, the young man sadly died.
Taking to Instagram on Friday morning, Laura said shed barely slept due to her mind racing as she kept replaying what she had seen.
"I can't begin to imagine what that poor boy's family are thinking and feeling this morning," she added. The property expert went on to urge holidaymakers to be "really mindful" and "careful" around sea currents.
"If you're letting your children go into the sea, even as a grown up going into the sea, just be careful," she warned. "But it was a kind of crazy thing to sort of see and witness and it just reminds us all that life is short," she added.
In a further emotional message, Laura said the tragedy served as a stark reminder that "life is short", encouraging people to cherish their loved ones because "nobody knows what tomorrow holds".
Many of Laura's followers offered their support in the comments and shared their condolences for the boys family.
One commented: "How sad and awful to witness, thoughts are with his family. Youre right hold those we love close." A second wrote: "Very tragic and sad for the family."
A third typed: "That's awful Laura, my heart goes out to the family."
"100% You never know what's round the corner and these kinds of things reminds us all how precious life is. Take care," a fourth added.
Laura, who frequently travels for work, splits her time between the UK, Mallorca and Dubai. She bought a holiday home in Pollena Old Town, Mallorca two years ago and has been sharing renovation updates with fans since.
As well as sharing updates, Laura also offers tips and advice on her YouTube channel for others considering buying a property overseas. She follows in the footsteps of her A Place In The Sun co-star Jasmine Harman, who relocated to Spain with her husband and their two children in 2023. At the time, Jasmine said the move had given the family a "better balance" all round.
Laura's post came a day after two people died in separate circumstances after getting into difficulty in the water near Mersea Island in Essex. Shelina Rhaman, 41, and her 15-year-old daughter Samiha were killed while trying to help a seven-year-old cousin.
