Thousands of emotional mourners gathered in Wales to say a heartbreaking final goodbye to Bonnie Tyler as the legendary singers funeral took place back in her beloved home country.

Fans lined the streets as Bonnies coffin was carried towards the service by her loved ones, with many visibly overcome with emotion as they gathered to pay their respects to the woman whose powerful voice became the soundtrack to generations.

The road was closed as huge crowds descended on the area, with mourners clutching flowers, Welsh flags and photographs of the late star as they waited for a final glimpse of their beloved Welsh music icon.

Bonnies husband Robert Sullivan was among those attending the emotional farewell, joined by members of her family including her brother Paul Hopkins, who gathered to remember the woman they all knew as Gaynor.

Paul kept his head down and sunglasses on as he made his way to pay his respects and say goodbye to his wonderful sister alongside his nearest and dearest

Reverend Canon Justin Davies was also pictured carrying a booklet featuring a portrait of Bonnie, as those inside and outside the service came together to celebrate the remarkable life of the singer.

Her coffin was carried carefully from the hearse, with flowers surrounding it as Bonnie began her final journey through the community where she remained so deeply loved despite her decades of international fame.

A Welsh flag featured prominently among the tributes, a poignant reminder of Bonnies lifelong connection to her homeland and the pride she took in her Welsh roots throughout her extraordinary career.

For many fans, however, the goodbye proved simply too emotional, with mourners seen crying and comforting one another as they watched the coffin pass and said farewell to the woman behind some of musics most enduring anthems.

Among the beautiful floral tributes left in Bonnies memory was one bearing the words 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', a touching reference to the song that became synonymous with her distinctive voice.

Another simple heart-shaped tribute offered a powerful message without needing many words, while others left deeply personal notes addressed to Bonnie as 'Aunty Gaynor' and 'my beautiful sister'.

One heartbreaking message read: Grief is just love with no place to go, a tide that ebbs and flows. People never leave us, they live in our hearts and minds.

Another poignant message told Bonnie: "I hope that you keep singing in heaven, and your songs will live in our hearts", as flowers and handwritten messages continued to build around the farewell.

Other mourners spoke of their hearts being broken by the loss, leaving deeply personal floral tributes that showed just how much Bonnie meant to the people of the community where she grew up.

The emotional scenes followed an outpouring of love from fans, many of whom had already gathered along the streets to watch Bonnies coffin return home, applauding, singing and holding flowers as she passed.

Bonnie, who was born Gaynor Hopkins, died aged 75 in Portugal last month, leaving behind a remarkable musical legacy that included Total Eclipse of the Heart, Its a Heartache and Holding Out for a Hero.

Now, as her family and fans gathered to remember her, the flowers, Welsh flags and handwritten messages offered a deeply moving final tribute to a woman whose voice travelled around the world but whose heart remained firmly in Wales.
