Glastonbury 2027 headliner 'teased' as A-list pop legend drops bombshell hint

Fresh speculation about Glastonbury 2027 has been sparked by one pop star, who recently gave a massive hint that they might be performing at next year's music festival

A chart-topping pop star has dropped a massive hint that they could be performing at Glastonbury in 2027. The singer revealed to the BBC that she'll be embarking on promotional tours "for a while" as her LP hits shelves next week as Madonna then teased: "and then in the summertime something bigger."

Programme host Graham Norton appeared thrilled and responded: "That sounds really exciting and good, and I think I know what you're on about. Is it in this country?" as she then turned coy, replying: "It could be. Why do you have to know everything?"

Glastonbury have confirmed there are "no definite touring plans" and that anything beyond that is "speculation". Glastonbury have made no official announcement regarding the festival's 2027 lineup and have yet to share any details regarding who they have book for next year.

The iconic music festival is not taking place in summer 2026 as this is a fallow year, meaning the dairy farmland on which the festival sits has a chance to recover from the past few years of partying. This happens every five years.

Madonna was previously heavily tipped to headline Glastonbury Festival in 2024 though this did not happen, reports the Mirror. During her chat with Graham Norton on the BBC for a special programme promoting her latest album, Madonna also explained how she became enchanted with London after being introduced to its "galleries and cocktail bars".

Her new album Confessions II serves as the sequel to the enormously successful Confessions On A Dance Floor, with producer Stuart Price returning to collaborate with her.

The duo have already unveiled tracks including I Feel Free and Freedom during an unexpected performance at Los Angeles venue The Abbey.

Price said: "Madonna's always got a story, and that's always been the case, so she's a great storyteller. She's very poetic in the way that she writes. The studio just becomes a space to tell the stories."

Confessions II is released on July 3 via Warner Music. Madonna and Graham can be viewed on BBC iPlayer.
