Golden Globes most awkward moments - Heckled Hollywood star to 'jealous' Kylie Jenner

The Golden Globes returned for the 82nd year, but viewers were left cringing with several awkward moments, including inappropriate jokes and feuding former cast mates

The Golden Globes rarely ever goes without an awkward hitch - and here are some of the night's most cringeworthy moments.

To start with, some viewers slammed the Golden Globes after the presenter made a joke about P Diddy during her opening address, among other strange moments throughout the night.

The awards returned for another year of recognising some of the best titles in US TV and film. Though the limelight wasn't just put on the accolades of the night - but also some of the behind-the-scenes drama.

This year, some of the A-listers were caught on camera in awkward moments, including famous couple, Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet, who publicly debuted their relationship at last year's awards. Some moments angered social media viewers, including a perhaps distasteful jokes on Glen Powell and Ben Affleck. Let's take a look at some of the most controversial moments throughout the night...

P Diddy jokes

Nikki Glaser, the host of this years Golden Globes awards, earned herself a few gasps from the live audience after she added a quick joke referring to former rapper and accused abuser P Diddy. While awards ceremonies are not immune to controversial takes, several online viewers were not pleased at the comment.

The comedian started with other celebrities: Zendaya, you were incredible in Dune, oh my God, I woke up for all of your scenes. You were so good. And Challengers, girl? Oh my God! That movie was more sexually charged than Diddys credit card, I mean seriously."

Despite several gasps, she continued: Im sorry, Im upset too. The afterparty is not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on. I know a Stanley Tucci freak off doesnt have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.

Fans flocked to X, with one user branding the moment "awkward." Another added: "Diddy jokes at the Golden Globes? Are we serious right now?" A third said: "why make jokes about this? how many people are traumatized by that man? how many people suffered because of him? theres no humour in that."

Glaser did not tone down the jokes following her Diddy jab, and made a few racy comments towards Twisters star Glen Powell and Ben Affleck. While many celebrities had a harsh comment, she gave Glen a compliment.

"Glen Powell, what a year you've had!" she said on stage, "Glen, you were in everything, Twisters, Hit Man, my head when I'm having sex with my boyfriend, thank you so much for the assist, I'll see you tonight" she continued, as Powell began to chuckle.

Not stopping there, she turned her attention towards recently-single Ben Affleck. "Tonight, we celebrate the best of film and hold space for television," she said, referencing the viral Wicked press tour meme.

"'Wicked' 'Queer,' 'Nightb***h" these are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms, these are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight," she concluded.

Jodie Foster got heckled

Professionalism seemed to be lost this Golden Globes season, as Jodie Foster's fifth win at Globes was interrupted by a heckle from a fellow nominee. Jodie won Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role as police chief Liz Danvers in True Detective: Night Country.

However, Sofa Vergara, 52, who portrayed the infamous 'Cocaine Godmother' Griselda Blanco in the series Griselda, heckled the Hollywood icon as she got up onstage. She was in the same category, but missed out on the trophy.

The crowd were informed it was Jodie's "10th nomination and fifth win." The camera cut to Vergara, who was seen rising up from her seat and approaching the stage as she exclaimed, "Oh no, give me one!"

"I know, I know," Jodie replied on stage. The camera then cut to Sofia's face, who looked momentarily serious before breaking into a laugh.

Celebrities almost flashed the audience

While it was Baby Reindeers turn to receive an award, attention turned to actress Gunning as she almost flashed the whole audience. The star won an award for Best Supporting Female Actor Television.

However, when standing up in her tight blue dress, she almost took a tumble as she hit the stage to accept her award. However, in good humour, she made a self-deprecating joke in her acceptance speech.

She joked that if she fell she might have exposed the audience, stating, "I almost tripped up. You almost saw my Golden Globes there. Thank you very much."

Wicked exit

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were caught on camera as they slipped out of the Golden Globe Awards for a moment on Sunday. The pair, who have grown extremely close over the last year as they filmed for Wicked, appeared red-faced.

While Sarah Paulson and Rachel Brosnahan presented an award on stage, they could been seen in the corner of the screen. Grande led Erivo by the hand as they tried to sneak out of the room. This did not escape the eagle-eyed viewers at home, who took to X to share what they had seen.

"Cynthia and Ariana trying to sneak out behind Sarah Paulson hand in hand babes we can see you," wrote one viewer on X.

Fast and 'furious' reunion

Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson managed to get themsevles into an awkward situation on Sunday night, too. The pair clashed years ago on the set of 2017's The Fate of the Furious.

Diesel, 57, and Johnson, 52, had starred in three movies together, though Johnson made headlines for a post calling out one of his co-stars he did not name. It was later confirmed to be Vin.

The pair parted ways in separate franchises and have reportedly been frost ever since. But the pair did interact on the Golden Globes stage, which happened when Diesel went to present the box office achievement award.

Before presenting the award, Diesel looked down and said, "Hey Dwayne" as Johnson just smiled as a few in the audience awkwardly laughed. Fans were happy another Will Smith and Chris Rock moment did not take place.

Kylie Jenner was 'not happy'

All eyes were on the budding couple, Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet, as she supported her actor boyfriend at the event. They were seated next to Elle Fanning, but Kylie was said to look unhappy as presenter Nikki Glaser focussed her attention on Timothee during a between-awards address.

"You have the most gorgeous eyelashes on your upper lip," said Glasser as she sent several jibes to the A-listers. While Timothee brushed it off, some fans think Kylie looked annoyed.

She sat next to him and the smile appeared to drop off her face. One social media user simply wrote: "Kylie is not happy."
