Coleen Nolan is "putting on a brave face" to celebrate a life achievement while grieving her sister Linda.
The TV star is hitting a massive milestone this week as she turns 60, but the celebrations are tinged with sorrow, just eight weeks after her beloved sister Linda Nolan passed away at 65 following a long battle with cancer.
A source told OK! that Coleen's landmark birthday feels overshadowed by grief, despite plans to throw a celebration with mates and family.
"This is a milestone birthday for Coleen, but she is still, of course, going to be thinking about her sister. Coleen is still very, very sad about losing Linda, so it's a very bittersweet moment. It's heartbreaking that Linda won't be there," they said.
Coleen shot to stardom with her sisters in The Nolans, with anthems like I'm In the Mood For Dancing. She shared a tight-knit bond with her siblings, especially with Linda.
Coleen, mourning Linda's loss, posted a touching tribute at the time of her death. The Nolan sister was clearly devastated and took a moment to inform her fans of the upsetting news.
On Instagram, Coleen wrote: "I am utterly devastated by the passing of my sister, Linda. Lind was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength. Her wit, humour and laughter was infectious, her presence could light up any room."
"Linda had a heart full of compassion and always knew how to bring comfort and joy to those around her," reports the Mirror. She continued on to say that "her memory will live on" thanks to the "many lives she touched".
"While we will miss her more than words can express, we take solace in the love and warmth she shared with all of us. Rest in peace, Linda. You will forever be in our hearts. Love you, Coleen xxx (Colette)."
After taking two weeks off to grieve, Coleen returned to Loose Women where she was met with support from her fellow panellists. At the time, she confessed that it was tough to return to work: "I thought, Do I go back? Is it too soon? And then you have to, because life goes on."
Coleen described the void left by Linda, saying, "She was just such a massive force in our family, and it feels like such a hole."
