Horror fans terrified by 'creepy' new Blair Witch film and beg 'take my money'

A new instalment in The Blair Witch Project franchise has been announced and film fans clearly cannot wait for the upcoming horror to hit the cinemas as the release date has been confirmed

A new Blair Witch Project film has been confirmed and the scheduled release date is closer than you think. The beloved found footage horror has become a cult classic in recent years and some fans are over the moon to hear there will be yet another chapter.

The new film, set to be released on 24 September 2027, sees the original directors return as executive producers for the currently untitled movie. Details of the plot and information about the cast have yet to be revealed.

Production companies Lionsgate and Atomic Monster shared the news on social media and one person wrote: "Y'know it'll be peak when they make posters this creepy," as another film fan joined in: "Take my money. I wanna see more snot dripping scared people in the woods."

A tweet underneath an announcement read: "Blair Witch. New Exorcist movie on the way. A ton of recent successhorror is back in its prime tbh."

A second one said: "That movie creeped me out a lot and I cannot wait for this one."

However, some people are still very sceptical about the new film's success: "They already did this twice and they were both d******. Please no more."

Someone else simply couldn't make up their mind: "The original directors exec producing is either the best sign or the worst sign and I genuinely cannot tell which. Whatever this Blair Witch revival turns out to be the 2027 wait is going to feel very long."

The first Blair Witch film was released back in 1999 after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.

The sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, was released just a year later with the third instalment reaching cinemas in September 2016.
