I went to the HBO Max pop-up in Piccadilly Circus to see what all the fuss was about, and I can honestly say it did not disappoint. To celebrate the streaming giant launching in the UK and Ireland this week, the area was transformed into a massive 6,500 square foot playground where fans could step straight into more than 15 hit TV shows and movies.
From the moment I walked in, I was checking in with a mocktail at The White Lotus , feeling like I was part of the show. I then headed to Carrie Bradshaws desk from Sex and the City. I even threw on a fluffy coat for full effect and pretended I was writing my next column it was such a fun way to step into TV fantasy.
Next up, I tried a Euphoria-style makeover, channelling my inner Sydney Sweeney with sparkling gems on my face. It was such a brilliant way to feel part of the show and made me appreciate how immersive the experience was.
For a sporty twist, I stepped into the TNT Sports studio to co-host alongside Arsenal legend Martin Keown. I couldnt resist teasing him about his infamous bust-up with Ruud van Nistelrooy, which made the moment even more fun and interactive.
Of course, I had to check out the big fantasy moments too. The Iron Throne from House of the Dragon was incredible, and yes, I fully pretended to be Daenerys Targaryen while sitting on it.
The Hogwarts-inspired corridor was pure magic, with a wand in hand and floating candles above it genuinely felt like Id stepped into the wizarding world.
Blockbuster spectacle was everywhere, from a stunning 360-degree projection mapping experience inspired by Supermans Fortress of Solitude to props and costumes from favourites like Batman and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice .
What made it really stand out for me was how interactive it all was. You werent just looking at sets, you were part of them. For any TV and film fan, this was an unforgettable, hands-on adventure that brought some of the worlds most iconic moments to life.
The two-day pop-up, which runs until Thursday 26 March, is part of a wider London takeover.
And for fans wanting more, Potters Fields will host the enormous Balerion dragon skull and Iron Throne from House of the Dragon, plus an HBO Max-themed food truck serving dragons eggs from 2pm.
Its not every day you get to see a dragons skull in the middle of London or sit on a throne from a hit show. Alex Lewis, SVP Marketing UK & Ireland for HBO Max, commented: Were thrilled to be bringing HBO Max to viewers in the UK and Ireland. Our HBO Max pop-up experience and London takeover celebrates the ultimate mix of best-in-class series, movies, extraordinary real-life stories and live sport available on the platform. .Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox?
