I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Keir - Prime Minister odds on to enter the jungle

Sir Keir Starmer has been tipped for an unlikely appearance in the Australian jungle after bookmakers dramatically shortened the odds on the Prime Minister taking part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

According to Ladbrokes, Starmer is now a 20/1 shot to join the hit ITV reality show later this year, with the market attracting attention as speculation continues to swirl around his political future.

The latest odds come amid intense scrutiny over whether the Labour leader will remain in Downing Street, with reports suggesting he's facing mounting pressure from within his own party to resign immediately.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Keir!

"Starmer's dealt with his fair share of snakes over the years, and with a clear diary seemingly on the cards, he could be well-prepped for a stint Down Under."

Bookmakers currently make Andy Burnham the overwhelming favourite to become the Labour leader if Starmer was to resign any time soon.

The prospect of the Prime Minister, 63, swapping Westminster for Bushtucker Trials feels more likely after huge politicians such as Nigel Farage and Matt Hancock took on the challenge in recent years.

Other politicians who were thrown in the jungle by hosts Ant & Dec include Edwina Currie, Stanley Johnson, Nadine Dorries, and Lembit Opik.

And while politicians have traditionally struggled to win over viewers in the jungle, there have been a handful of notable exceptions.

Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock shocked many by reaching the final three in 2022, while ex-Tory minister Edwina Currie previously finished fourth after becoming a surprise favourite in 2014.

For now Starmer's immediate focus remains in the growing questions surrounding his leadership but if bookmakers are to be believed, a future battling creepy crawlies in Australia may not be off the table.

Other names rumoured to head Down Under in a few months time include Danny Dyer, Olivia Attwood, Jeremy Clarkson, Jools Oliver, Su-Elise Nash and Denise Van Outen.
