Inbetweeners reunion 'held up' as Emily Atack 'dragging heels' over reboot

Fans have been desperate to bring the hit 2010s teen comedy back to our screens but actress Emily Atack is proving to be the hardest star to pin down for the reunion

A potential Inbetweeners reunion is reportedly being held back due to Emily Atack. According to sources, she is said to be currently undecided about signing up for the reboot.

Emily, 36, first shot to fame on the hit Channel 4 show playing Charlotte better known by her less-flattering nickname 'Big Jugs'. Aged just seventeen at the time, the actress burst onto our screens, stealing the hearts of the nation.

Since then, the actress has gone on to do great things, including well-known roles on hit show Rivals, as well as her various reality TV stints, such as I'm A Celebrity. But now, her schedule is so packed that she is causing problems for a potential reunion.

According to the Sun, Emily has managed to go from strength to strength in her career, most recently landing her lucrative Rivals role. She has also stepped into the world of presenting, starring alongside national Danny Dyer to host ITV show Nobody's Fool.

Because of her huge shoot to success, Emily is reportedly hesitant to go back to the world of the Inbetweeners. This was not helped when she was snubbed by Channel 4 bosses for the first major reunion of the cast back in 2019.

A TV insider explained: "Emily still hasnt signed up, and there is a very real reason why shes dragging her heels. She hasnt forgotten what happened last time.

"She was absolutely furious that she wasnt invited back for the previous Inbetweeners reunion, and she has never really got over the way she felt she was treated," they added. "Emilys attitude is basically, Why do you want me now when I wasnt good enough then?

Back in 2019, Emily had been due to star in the much anticipated Inbetweeners Fwends Reunited, alongside her co-stars. However, on the eve of filming for the show, she was dropped by producers after it emerged she had shared a "secret fling" together with James Buckley, who played Jay Cartwright in the show.

It was revealed the pair had enjoyed "a couple of cheeky snogs" over the course of their relationship, but nothing ever came from it. Lead star James later reportedly claimed he would walk from the reunion, as it would put him in a tough situation with his wife Clair.

James' presence on the reunion is also seemingly getting in the way for Emily to make a return according to the source. The source added that because of their history, it would be "awkward" to work together again.

"She knows everyone would be watching their interactions and she would not particularly relish being thrown back into that situation," they claimed. "Jamess role in her not being brought back for the previous reunion left her genuinely upset, and the idea of having to work with him again isnt something she is keen to do."

Emily's representatives have been approached for comment.
