Inbetweeners icon James Buckley has raked in an estimated 2million from bed flogging personal video messages.
The actor, 38, has made 50,000 clips for his army of superfans all over the world, charging 41 a pop on web platform Cameo. Hes apparently now so relaxed on camera, he prefers to do it from between the sheets.
James is just one of a growing crowd of Cameo millionaires with the most successful, thought to be US Office star Brian Baumgartner, said to have made $6million (4.4million).
In Britain, Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes and Chelsea legend John Terry are believed to be among the top earners.
Martin Blencowe, a friend of James and Cameos co-founder, said: Buckley does it in his bed. Hell do 10 when he wakes up. Because thats how he is in his head hes like Ive woken up, Ive done 10, thats covered my day.
Since he joined the site in early 2020, Martin said his friends life has changed for the better.
James was urged to sign up by Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, but struggled with his confidence at first.
Martin added: Ill tell you whats been refreshing its only because I love him so much is that Ive seen the change in the individual. I saw a man that was beaten up by like, just being typecast for a show.
Im a huge Inbetweeners fan and I said: I think he could make a million dollars on Cameo. But he was so down about himself, he didnt think anybody wanted him.
Martin was concerned about how it would affect the stars self-esteem if the venture failed so he called 10 friends and asked them to each buy a video.
But it didnt take long before James started taking off naturally. He has since started a hit podcast and YouTube channel with model wife Clair, and the pair are heading out on a UK tour in March. Martin said the Cameo videos have been a stepping stone to wider success.
He added: I always say to him I think his YouTube channel and his podcast are successful because hes created superfans.
Hes done 50,000 videos but hes really done 100,000 videos because its a gift so hes just created 100,000 superfans who are listening to what hes got to say. Every day he gets someone coming up to him saying Ive got a Cameo from you.
James, who has two sons and lives in Essex, is now making a return to the big screen in new film Mothers Pride, due out in March.
The Daily Star has contacted James Buckley for comment.
