Aaron Taylor-Johnson is hot on everyone's lips these days as a potential new James Bond. One of the most sought after actors of his generation, his versatility has appealed to all types of cinema goers in dramas, comedies, action movies and beyond.
Having first shot to fame in films such as Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, the 36 -year-old has become one of the UK's most in demand box office draws stars. He is best known for his roles in action and horror flicks, including Bullet Train, Kick-Ass, Avengers and Nosferatu, all huge at cinemas and on streaming services.
However, away from his huge acting success, he is also blissfully happy at home with his darling wife Sam. But what many fans may not know is that Sam is some 23 years his senior, which begs the question how did they get together?
Aaron and Sam first met back in 2008, when they worked together for their hit Beatles film, Nowhere Boy. Hot off the success of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, a then-teenage Aaron had auditioned for the role of John Lennon and the pair immediately felt sparks fly.
Due to her busy schedule Sam hadn't actually met Aaron at the original audition as she was away when he was called for so the pair decided it was easier to audition at her house.
In the middle of divorcing her first husband Jay Jopling, Sam admitted in an interview with the Telegraph that the timings were "so inconvenient". She added: "In the end, I was like, 'OK, he'll have to come to my home.' I opened my door to John Lennon. I instantly knew he was the guy."
As filming for the movie began, the pair soon realised they had real chemistry off-screen and then, as soon as the movie was over, Aaron was quick to propose to Sam. Sam revealed that by that point they had never kissed or gone on a date, but the connection was so strong that they went with it.
Speaking in his own interview with the Telegraph, Aaron had said: "I knew instantly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this person. I knew I wanted a family with her, I knew I wanted kids, and a month later she was pregnant with our first child."
Come July 2010, the pair had welcomed their first child together, named Wylda Rae. After this, the couple began a true a working partnership, with Aaron featuring heavily in director Sam's projects.
The pair would go on to have another child, Romy in January of 2012 and officially got hitched five months later. But as time went on and the public caught wind of their relationship, Aaron admitted he found the public's fixation on their marriage "intrusive".
Sam, for her part, said she was not interested in people's chatter on their age gap, with the director telling The Hollywood Reporter: "If I gave a second thought to other people, I would be the unhappiest person, probably still in a miserable marriage. People like to talk about it.
"I'm like, 'Yeah, but it works better than my last marriage.' It's lasted longer than a lot of my friends' marriages."
With rumours that Aaron Taylor-Johnson could be in line to become the next 007, the couple won't be avoid the chatter any time soon.
