Inside Millie Mackintosh and Hugos split after claims of open sexuality

The 'real reason' behind Millie Mackintosh's split from Hugo Taylor has come to light. The stars of Made In Chelsea, who tied the knot seven years ago, have chosen to call time on their storybook romance.

Insiders suggest that the couple - parents to five year old Sienna and four year old Aurelia - decided to part ways after having "serious conversations about their future", with questions even arising around Millie's 'sexuality'.

Rumours suggest that Millie's candidness regarding her sexuality led to a rift between the pair, who first crossed paths on the E4 series and later wed despite a tumultuous relationship, reports the Mirror.

Last year, she disclosed for the first time in her life that she had been open about her sexuality and had broached the subject with her husband as well, with insiders suggesting it further strained their relationship.

"She's really come to understand who she is as a person - not a mother, not a wife but actually as herself. It's the first time she's been able to be fully open about her sexuality and, of course, it's been a lot to deal with," an insider revealed to The Sun.

"Part of her is always wondering if she missed out on a relationship with a woman and what that could have been like. She is also engrossed in health and wellness and that has never really been Hugo's bag. They have been best friends forever but they are on very different paths now."

An insider close to the pair exclusively revealed to The Mirror that the break up was a mutual decision and they continue to remain on friendly terms. "Their split was very much amicable. There's no real reason for their split; it just happens sometimes," they shared.

Last year, Millie opened up about her drinking habits and how it led her to kiss other women during an episode of the Saturn Returns podcast. She confessed: "I had crushes on girls at school and I just didn't have the awareness to go, 'I like girls as well.' I've explored a lot of my relationship to women. I was bullied so I definitely have intimacy issues with women, but there's this attraction as well.

"Obviously I'm married to a man. It's not something that affects our relationship at all now but looking back I realise that was one of the reasons I drank in a destructive way, because there was a part of myself I didn't understand. I didn't know how to express it and I felt scared to express it. Every time I would drink I would just keep doing it [kissing women], even if I was in a relationship."

She further added: "Now, I'm not going out and drinking and doing wild, crazy s***. I am not going to walk up to women and snog them just because I'm attracted to women - just in the same way I wouldn't go up to a man and snog them."
