Jeremy Clarkson slams 'ridiculous' plans that could see popular dog breeds banned

TV star Clarkson claimed the proposal to limit ownership on certain breeds of dogs was 'too ridiculous for words' in a searing new rant

Jeremy Clarkson has savaged plans to control what breeds of dogs we can own as being too ridiculous for words.

A committee has been launched to probe pooches then decide which ones should be allowed, with over 60 breeds facing the chop.

And Jeremy, 65, raged: Under new proposals, you will not be permitted to choose what dog you want, based on its face or its ears or its temperament.

You will have to select one from a government-approved list. Theres a very real possibility that soon, the Dulux dog will become as extinct as the T-Rex. The red setter is at risk too. And the Welsh springer spaniel.

Id hate to live in a world where there were none of those. Whereas Id quite like to live in a world where there are no political committees banning the scotty dog for being too dense.

Canine-lover Jezza owns fox red Labradors on his Diddly Squat farm in Oxfordshire which featured on his Clarksons Farm telly show. And he reckons authorities have made a dogs dinner over the plans.

He fumed: The reasoning for this is that there are dog breeders out there who are said to be creating genetically sliced Frankenstein monster dogs that will be inherently unhealthy.

"Seriously? Is there really a demand for dogs that are permanently ill? I suppose, if you squint, you could just about imagine that some stupid Instagram enthusiast would buy an odd dog that doesnt work properly?

But I cant see that the mutant dog industry is big enough to warrant a cross-party committee, hours of parliamentary time and new laws.

The ex-Top Gear host added: Basset hounds and St Bernards would be banished. So would the pug.

"And your King Charles spaniel can stop grinning because our glorious leaders say that bulging eyes would be against the law too.

My son is going to be desperately sad about this because he adores scotty dogs.
