This Morning star Josie Gibson has opened up about her swift healing journey following surgery for lipoedema. Last year, the 41-year-old underwent surgery for the condition, which causes an abnormal build-up of fat, usually in the legs and sometimes the arms.
The presenter, who has a seven-year-old son named Reggie, later revealed she had spent 7,000 on liposuction for her calves, and a few months later, she also underwent an arm lift.
Following her latest procedure, Josie told fans shes "constantly fighting my genetics" as she showed off her scars from having fat and excess skin removed.
In an update with Closer Magazine, she said: "I healed really fast. I did throw everything at it because I'm a working mum.
"I knew I didn't have the time that they said to heal. I had to go back to work after two weeks," she added.
"Every day is a juggle, any parent know that. It's difficult, especially when I'm on my own with Reg," she continued. "Running around, trying to get him to clubs and then trying to hold down a career and do it all is like a massive juggling act."
According to the NHS, lipoedema can be painful and affect daily life. The condition is more common in women and can cause the bottom, thighs, lower legs and sometimes arms to appear out of proportion with the rest of the body.
Treatments can range from eating healthily and wearing compression garments to procedures such as liposuction.
Josie previously said undergoing surgery for the condition was "a last resort" and something she hadn't intended to do.
While opening up about it for the first time on This Morning, she also addressed speculation that she had "lost five or six stone".
"I wish Id lost that much weight, but I havent," she shared. "I thought Id better be honest, I got diagnosed about a year ago, and I have just been in surgery, well, in September I had surgery."
Josie went on to say she hoped speaking about her experience would help other women with the same condition feel less alone.
In her most recent interview with The Sun's Fabulous Magazine, the presenter said her latest operation has proven to be the "best thing" she's ever done.
"If you'd seen what my arms were like before, it was hideous, absolutely hideous," she shared.
"Before the procedures, I hated the way I looked. I hated looking in the mirror."
Now, Josie says she has found a whole new confidence and has started opting for clothes she wouldn't have worn previously.
She also revealed that she has shed 2.5 stone following her surgery, attributing her progress to intermittent fasting and a balanced diet.
