Oasis fans have been heavily speculating about a new album ever since the band announced their historic reunion back in August 2024. However, frontman Liam Gallagher crushed those hopes at the weekend as he spoke out on rumours. In late 2024 and early 2026, Liam sent the fanbase into a frenzy on X by telling a fan that a new album was "already finished" and later claiming he was "blown away" by the new tracks Noel had written.
In early 2025 and 2026, synchronised social media posts by Liam, Noel Gallagher, and guitarist Bonehead then kept fans in "full detective mode," with many guessing a documentary or an album was imminent. Radio stations and TikTok accounts fuelled the fire by hinting at "massive" upcoming announcements, leading fans to hope for a surprise single or studio record.
However, Liam rubbished the rumours on Sunday (July 19) afternoon in another tweet to a fan.
The Oasis lover posted on X on Saturday (July 18), 'Oasis new album please, please, sorry but I think the new album will actually change lives.'
Liam replied: "NO. Im just not prepared for the criticism if it doesnt sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour. cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, if it doesnt turn back time for Cher and some other s**t lets just [do] some gigs and be happy thank you."
One fan replied: "Liam dont listen to those randoms though Ill be happy either way but if you want to do another album it would be awesome."
While another added: "They'll moan it doesn't sound like 'Definitely Maybe', even tho your sound grew with you and DOYS was a masterpiece and we need more songs like that with those groovy basslines."
Liam wrote back: "Exactly, momma didn't raise no fool, they're mad for putting the boot in but cant if the gigs are great."
Another fan asked: "Genuine question though if there was to be new music for Oasis, would it be different to the old stuff, or still be the same?"
Liam told them: "Id like to think itd still sound like Oasis and we hadnt turned into a bunch of electronic umbrellas trying so desperately to keep up with the kids, do you get me bruv?"
Despite seemed to rubbish the album claims, Liam appeared to confirm there will be Oasis gigs coming up.
One fan asked: "Can you please play Gas Panic! next year," as Liam simply replied: "Of course."
No official upcoming Oasis gigs are currently scheduled for 2026, but Liam and Noel Gallagher are heavily reported to be planning a massive summer 2027 reunion encore tour.
After completing their highly successful 41-date Oasis Live '25 world tour, the brothers are taking a break from the road but have explicitly teased a return.
Sources close to the promoters indicate the band originally thought about matching the announcement with the World Cup but have settled on an official reveal in August. Tickets are widely expected to go on sale shortly after the formal tour announcement.
