Love Island legend issues Dubai update as 'explosions' heard amid Iran attack

Love Island star Laura Anderson has issued an update from Dubai after explosions were reported in the city hours after she arrived with daughter Bonnie

Love Island's Laura Anderson has provided an update from Dubai following reports of explosions in the city and across the Middle East. Israel launched joint strikes on Iran and the US this morning. Explosions have been reported in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with missiles also aimed at a US naval base in Qatar and other targets throughout the region.

Just hours after touching down in Dubai with her daughter Bonnie, Laura Anderson took to her Instagram story to reassure fans amidst the frightening explosions. She posted: "Horrendous situation Bonnie and I are fine" followed by a white heart emoji.

Just prior to news of the explosions, Laura shared a snap of herself and daughter Bonnie at Glasgow Airport ahead of their flight to the UAE. She then uploaded a charming video of Bonnie sipping milk whilst on the plane.

This morning, Laura shared footage of her room in Dubai, saying in the clip: "Welcome to Dubai. Good morning! We woke up at 11.30, Bonnie is a lazy bones..." Bonnie can then be heard calling out to her mum as Laura asks her: "You want a what?" The toddler then tells her mum how she spotted a fly before Laura pans to the swimming pool, reports the Mirror.

"Can't wait to jump in there! Not, they didn't put the heating on and it's freezing," she dipped her toe in the water before turning to a friend and exclaiming: "Oh it's not cold!" Laura then asks her daughter if she's pleased to be in Dubai.

This development follows Donald Trump's announcement that the US had launched 'major combat operations' in Iran overnight, whilst Israel's defence minister revealed the country had initiated a 'preventative attack' against Iran to "remove threats". Iran has subsequently hit back by striking Israel and US military targets throughout the Middle East.

Blasts were reported in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with missiles also hitting a US naval base in Qatar amongst other targets across the region as Iran responds to American strikes. Air raid sirens have meanwhile wailed in Kuwait, according to Al Jazeera reports.

The Foreign Office has advised UK nationals to seek immediate shelter.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office issued a statement declaring: "Due to reported missile attacks British nationals in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE should immediately shelter in place. They should remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities."

NBC News is reporting that Iran is striking back against "multiple US military facilities in the middle east" according to a US official. Attacks have been reported in Bahrain, hitting the US Fifth Fleet Naval Command, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital.

Explosions have meanwhile been reported in Doha, Qatar as well as in the skies above Jordan.

Residents were spotted fleeing through Dubai's streets in the United Arab Emirates as explosions echoed around them. A fatality has also been confirmed in Abu Dhabi after debris struck a residential neighbourhood.
