Martin Roberts wants Hollywood legend to star with him on Homes Under the Hammer

Martin Roberts has admitted there is a Hollywood star he wants to see present Homes Under the Hammer. He admitted he even wants to be there seeing them get stuck in with the property development itself.

The much-loved presenter, 63, has been presenting the BBC property show for over two decades and has seen plenty of bizarre projects in his time. Now, the star is taking on his own project as he fixes up a pub in Wales for a new documentary series.

Martin is currently renovating a run-down pub in the Rhondda Valley in the hopes of providing a hub for the local community and nearby tourism. But he also admitted he has failed to practice what he preaches on his own show.

The property star beamed with smiles as he told The Daily Star just some of his bold plans for the hotel, with each room planning to be modelled after a different TV show. This includes a Homes Under the Hammer room which is going to be "full of memorabilia".

He admitted that currently the pub is just "a pile of rubble" at the moment, but is expected to help young and disadvantaged kids get real-world experience in working in property. But Martin has admitted things have not gone smoothly.

"I've broken every single one of my Homes Under the Hammer rules," he confessed to us. "I didn't read the legal packet, I didn't get a surveyor in and I didn't visit it beforehand.

"But oh my gosh, a derelict old pub that's not been touched in 150 years has thrown up more problems than I ever could have imagined. But anyway we're getting through them."

The pub is not expected to be opened for at least another year, but Martin is looking forward to the challenge. It comes as he realises just how much of an impact the show has had on the industry.

The I'm A Celebrity star opened up on the shock he felt when he discovered that huge stars such as Paul McCartney and Mark Wahlberg are big fans of the show. But there was one A-lister who Martin really wants to see present the show with him.

When interviewed by Graham Norton, Hollywood legend Meryl Streep admitted Homes Under the Hammer is one of her favourite British shows. Martin was quick to jump onto the idea she could make a guest appearance on the show.

"I would love to have Meryl Streep join us!" he beamed. "Can you imagine Meryl Streep in a two-up two-down terrace in Stoke-on-Trent? Especially if she wears her Devil Wears Prada gear!

"She strolls up in her high heels and I'm in my scruffs and we wander around some derelict property," he beamed. "That would be brilliant, we need to try and arrange it!"
