NASA has dismissed a claim by Kim Kardashian that the 1969 Moon landing was a hoax. On her Hulu TV show The Kardashians, the Skims founder, 45, told her co-star Sarah Paulson that she reckons the Apollo 11 mission didnt happen and claimed astronaut Buzz Aldrin has admitted it was fake.
The reality TV star showed her an article about the expedition and read out a quote she alleged was from Aldrin, the second man to walk on the lunar surface, where he was asked what the most terrifying moment of the mission was and responded: There was no scary moment because it didnt happen.
A few hours after the episode was broadcast on Hulu on Thursday, NASAs acting administrator Sean Duffy hit back at Kardashian by tagging her in a post and writing: Yes, weve been to the Moon before 6 times!
He also promoted the space agencies current moon exploration program Artemis, saying and even better it is going back under the leadership of Donald Trump, adding: We won the last space race and we will win this one too.
In the scene Kardashian is seen telling Paulson, 50, on the set of her upcoming TV series Alls Fair that she is going to send her a million articles with both Buzz Aldrin and the other, which back up conspiracy theories that the event didnt take place.
She claimed Aldrin, who was the second man to walk on moon after Neil Armstrong, also said in the interview: It couldve been scary, but it wasnt because it didnt happen.
In a confessional, Kardashian later told how she thinks the mission didnt happen and claimed she has seen a few videos which show Aldrin admitting it was a hoax.
She added: He says it all the time now, in interviews. Maybe we should find Buzz Aldrin.
Scientists and experts have long dismissed conspiracy theories that allege the mission was a hoax. According to the Institute of Physics: Every single argument claiming that Nasa faked the Moon landings has been discredited.
NASA is aiming to land a crew on the lunar surface by mid 2027 through Artemis. The US and China are currently competing to send astronauts to the Moon in a bid to set up lunar bases there in an area believed to store frozen water.
