The Nolans reunited on stage for the first time since their sister Linda's death in January.
Denise, Maureen and Anne performed together at Sheffield's City Hall on Saturday night (October 4) with a whole host of celebrity guests. The family pop group's special one-off gig to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Charity was the first time trio performed together since 1978.
It comes months after Linda Nolan sadly died at the age of 65, two decades after she was first diagnosed with cancer. Her beloved siblings said they wanted "to do their sisters proud" with the performance at the weekend.
The trio were seen commanding the stage as they performed their hit, I'm in the Mood for Dancing. It was Denise's first time singing the beloved track, first released in 1979.
The ladies also sang Tell Me Its Not True from Blood Brothers, which Linda, Bernie, Maureen and Denise were in, resulting in them receiving a Guinness World Record. This was Anne's first time performing it.
The show, called Simply the Best, was hosted by the cancer charity BB With Love, which was founded by Michael, Rachel, Sean and Matthew Croke in memory of their mum Bev Croke, who died from breast cancer in March 2021. The charity could be seen projected onto the wall as the Nolan siblings performed.
The Nolan trio said they'd been "rehearsing to within an inch of their lives" in their hometown of Blackpool ahead of the gig. Denise, 73, told the BBC: "It's not going to be like when we were all in our twenties, I'm afraid, but we'll do our very best - vocally, we're still strong."
She also discussed grief and the determination to make her late family members, such as Linda, proud. Denise said: "Everything is difficult when someone goes, everything is a memory.
"But I think professionalism takes over. I did Linda's eulogy when she passed away and of course right up to the moment you think, 'am I going to break down?'.
"But you get up there and it's like you're speaking to somebody else, you're doing your job and that kicks in and you know you want to make someone proud."
Linda died of double pneumonia after her incurable secondary breast cancer had spread to her brain. Their late sister Bernie died from metastic breast cancer in 2013, at the age of 52.
Anne has had cancer twice, and their brother Brian was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. Anne said of the gig: "When we were asked to do it we were absolutely thrilled because cancer has affected our family as well."
The Crokes have raised over 250K through a variety of charity events, with all proceeds raised going directly to helping cancer patients and their loved ones. This includes extra aftercare, more research, additional treatments, alternative remedies, and mental health support.
On Saturday 11th October, The Nolans will appear at the Talking Pictures Festival of Film & TV Roadshow at the Hebden Bridge Picture House. Hosted by Sherrie Hewson and Mike Read, the sisters will take part in an exclusive Q&A reflecting on their extraordinary 50-year career across television, touring and chart-topping records, selling over 30 million records with hits including Attention To Me, Gotta Pull Myself Together and of course, Im in the Mood for Dancing, as well as their successful solo careers.
Fans will also have the opportunity to meet Denise, Maureen and Anne in person during autograph and photo sessions. Tickets can be bought here.
Maureen commented: "Weve had such a varied career in showbiz and our amazing fans have been there, every step of the way. This will be the first time we get to really look back and celebrate our story."
