Strictly star sparks fury with 'sexist' remark about wife before defending himself

Former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan has come under fire from fans for comments made about his wife Ola, but he's since addressed his remarks on Instagram

James Jordan found himself facing a barrage from fans after he criticised his wife Ola.

The former Strictly star who used to be one of the pros on the BBC ballroom contest was bombarded with complaints from fans after he said on X that fellow dancer Ola was s*** at ironing and asked if anyone knew an ironing lady. Many people took issue with his comment, firing back messages telling him: "Do it ya bl***y self!"

James had posted on the platform: "Hi guys. Anyone know a decent ironing lady in the West Malling area - as my wife is s*** at it."

Off you go James, the iron is in the cupboard, one fan replied. How to tell everyone youre a misogynist without saying youre a misogynist, sniped another. Iron your own rags you sexist pig!, said another.

Its 2024 James, men can do their own ironing! someone else pointed out. Others called the TV star rude and one stormed: Heres an idea do it yourself.

However, some fans pointed out that James, who has a daughter with Ola, was likely joking with his remark. And he later went back onto X to clarify his comments.

Well that last tweet went so much better than I thought it would, the star said. Just to clarify I do my own ironing but I hate it - and Ola hates ironing too.

James clearly couldnt resist a final laugh on the subject, making another joke when he posted a follow up message apparently to appease those who had been questioning why he was after a female and not a male to do the ironing job.

He quipped: Lastly - we are looking for an ironing lady not 'man' because although men are better we want to give a lady the opportunity because we are all about equality.
