Strictly's Tess Daly makes major family update after Vernon Kay split

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has announced a new mystery project with her 21-year-old daughter Phoebe Kay, following her amicable separation from radio star Vernon Kay

Tess Daly is joining forces with her daughter, Phoebe Kay. Teasing a cryptic new venture, the presenter posted on Instagram on Wednesday (5 August), joking: "No longer bring your daughter to work day, but working alongside her."

A devoted mother of two, Tess shares daughters Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 17, with radio personality Vernon Kay.

The pair, who wed in 2003, have remained committed to co-parenting in recent months after their split. "After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably," Tess and Vernon confirmed in a joint statement released in May.

Obviously maintaining an amicable relationship following their breakup, Vernon and Tess preserve a lovely friendship, with the father-of-two regularly championing her achievements with swimwear label Naia Beach on Instagram.

Regarding Tess' upcoming venture with Phoebe, the specifics of their partnership remain under wraps, though Vernon will undoubtedly be supporting them from the sidelines.

A budding actress, Phoebe who is presently studying at the New York Film Academy, alongside the Stella Adler Studio of Acting is well-acquainted with the television industry, reports the Express.

Her Backstage profile reveals the 21 year old has secured background parts in Almost Never (2022) and The Blame (2025), suggesting the mother-daughter pair could potentially be collaborating on-screen.

Following an announcement that's generated buzz and fascination, Tess and Phoebe's celebrity pals have weighed in.

"This is gorgeous," responded Vicky Pattison. "Yesssss. It's giving twins," penned entrepreneur Irene Agbontaen.

Meanwhile, Tess' longtime mate and Strictly co-presenter, Claudia Winkleman, replied with several heart emojis.

Amongst the responses, fans also highlighted the similarity between Phoebe and her renowned father. "She looks like Vern," declared one.

"Gosh, she is so like her dad," wrote another. "Both Beautiful. Phoebe looks like her dad I think, all grown up," remarked a third.
