Sydney Sweeney demanded her nude Euphoria scenes be kept in saucy third series

Sydney Sweeney has been dividing fans with her racy antics in the third season of Euphoria, but she recently admitted she had to fight to keep her raunchy scenes in the show

Sydney Sweeney's naked Euphoria scenes almost never happened. Series director Sam Levinson has said that he considered shooting the entirety of season three without any nudity for her character Cassie, however, Sydney herself shut down the idea.

In an interview with New York Times, Sam said: "Well, its funny. When I first wrote it, I was like, Maybe we shoot all of this and we dont have any nudity. Maybe theres ways to shoot around certain things?

And she looked at me and she was like, Are you kidding? Im playing an OnlyFans model. Youre telling me youre going to, like, skirt around it? And I was like, Yeah, OK, thats a fair point.'

His portrayal of Cassie has faced huge backlash from viewers, who see her storyline and intimate scenes as overly sexual. Sam fired back: From the script, you get a sense of what the role requires.

Even when you go up to audition, lets use the role of Cassie, you know the role requires a certain amount of nudity. Are you comfortable?

If theyre comfortable, they get the role, then the next layer is the intimacy coordinator. I think its a SAG rule that if an actor then says, after getting cast, Actually, I dont want to do that, we cant force them to do a scene.

However, he was quick to emphasise that actors' safety is still paramount: I believe very strongly that the best, most honest performances are when an actor feels free and safe. Thats how you get a great performance. You cant if there is any tension.

The emotion is going to be blocked. And thats something Ive known from my days of studying acting. So my job is to create the kind of best, most conducive environment for the actor to play this character.
