The Traitors star admits 'shame' he was conned out of life savings by scammers

Sam Little spent his time on the BBC show trying to work out who was deceitful, but he would end up admitting his guilt after ruthless scammers stole all his money in real life

Traitors star Sam Little was dealt a devastating blow after being duped

A star of The Traitors has confessed his guilt and "shame" after being conned out of his entire life savings. He admitted he was fooled by the scammers after falling for a fake phone call.

Sam Little starred in the most recent series of the BBC show, where he was ultimately banished from the castle, despite being a faithful. However, he has since been duped in real life, losing out on thousands of pounds.

The star revealed he had been conned after he was asked to call a verified phone number, asking him to move his cryptocurrency into a "hardware wallet". He had been thinking he was opening an insurance case when when it was far from the truth.

Speaking on Friday's edition of This Morning (June 26), Sam said he needed to move the money over in preparation for the case, on the off-chance the funds could be lost. However, he would end up giving scammers access to his account.

Instead of the money going towards the "wallet", his money was entirely being transferred to the scammers, who soon made off with his money. He only realised what had happened when his wife searched the number he called the scammers on.

He went on to report the scam to Report Fraud, but due to the fact it involves cryptocurrency, the service "didn't have the capacity" to help him. In a statement, Report Fraud said that cases involving crypto are "complex" and take a very long time to process.

Sam revealed that he had been scammed while his season of The Traitors was airing, explaining: "It caught me in an off moment where I just had a series of text notifications from a verified number, which over the years had sent me verified text messages, asking me to call them. And I actually picked up the phone and called them."

After discovering he had fallen victim to the scammers, Sam said he was floored and could not believe what happened. This was made worse for Sam, as he had deep experience in working in the tech sector.

"I consider myself quite savvy but these are genuine criminal organisations now," Sam said. "These aren't two guys in a room chancing their arm, they are working off a sales playbook, and they are very, very good.

"The amount of times on the phone they'd say 'If you're not comfortable, just ring us back at a more convenient time.' And I'm just trusting them more and more, but they're also underpinning that with a bit of panic as well, making me act, and before I knew it, the line went dead and everything was gone."
