EXCLUSIVE: Traitors star Paul Gorton admitted to an awkward encounter with Laura Whitmore after a mix-up about her marriage to Iain Stirling went embarrassingly wrong

A Traitors star has confessed to an awkward run-in with former Love Island host Laura Whitmore. At the BAFTA Television Awards, the star opened up exclusively to the Daily Star about an celebrity encounter that left him slightly red-faced on the red carpet as he recalled the past moment.

Paul Gorton chatted alongside fellow Traitors star Freddie Fraser and admitted that navigating high-profile events can be tricky, especially when spotting famous faces in the crowd. He said he often takes a let them be approach when seeing celebrities, comparing it jokingly to visiting a zoo and trying not to draw attention.

But things didnt go quite as smoothly when he found himself in conversation with broadcaster Laura, who had her hair styled by Joe Pickering, using TRESemms styling products including the Flawless Volume Hairspray on the night.

Paul explained that during a brief exchange, he made an honest mistake about her personal life, not realising she is married to Love Island voice over star Iain Stirling.

He recalled telling her he hadnt realised she was someones other half, which quickly led to a slightly tense moment. According to Paul, Laura responded by questioning the comment, suggesting: Thats all Im known as, Ians other half?

Paul insisted there was no bad intention behind it, saying he simply didnt know the full context at the time. He added that he believes she may have been joking in response, but admitted its an interaction he hasnt forgotten since.

Reflecting on the moment, he joked: I need to think before I speak a little bit. Despite the embarrassment, Paul was keen to praise Laura, describing her as incredible and clearly holding no ill feeling about the exchange.

Freddie quickly chipped in during the chat, teasing that Paul can sometimes be a media nightmare or dream, depending on the situation.

The light-hearted interview came as reality TV stars from The Traitors mingled with some of the biggest names in British television at the glittering BAFTA ceremony, where awkward red carpet moments and unexpected celebrity run-ins were clearly part of the nights entertainment.
