Truth behind viral Robbie Williams World Cup video as 'white substance falls from nose'

Robbie Williams performed at the World Cup final with Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini, but it's the pop star's post-match interview that has got people talking

Robbie Williams definitely raised some eyebrows during his post-match interview at the World Cup final - but it's not what it looks like.

The Angels singer, 52, performed his FIFA World Cup track Desire with Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini before the final on Sunday (July 19), which saw Spain trump a rather bitter Argentina. However, he suffered an awkward blunder during an interview after the game.

Robbie was appearing on the German news channel Magenta Sport, but the broadcast has now gone viral on social media for all the wrong reasons. Some viewers believe they saw a small white lump fall from his nose and onto his microphone.

The former Take That star noticed that something had fallen onto his mic, but he didn't panic and quite literally brushed it off, wiping it away from the microphone as he carried on speaking. But unfortunately, things got worse for him when he touched his hair, because he ended up sticking it to his forehead.

A video that's now picked up over a million viewers on Instagram claimed the white object fell out of Robbie's nose. However, it appears that they've got it wrong, because viewers have now slowed down the clip and worked out that it actually came from the singer's mouth.

It landed on the singer's microphone and he wiped it away, but it turns out it was a mint

It seems as if the pop star accidentally spat out a mint or a piece of gum. Lots of people have rushed to Robbie's defence and dismissed the suggestion that it was anything else...

One wrote: "Need to check your eyes lad lol from his mouth you stupid muppet [laughing emoji] nice try though." Another said: "You need glasses to see it fell from his mouth." A third added: "Clearly comes out of his mouth."

They couldn't help but see the funny side of it, though, and one laughed: "Whatever it is and wherever it came from, its on his forehead! [laughing emojis]". A second said: "Poor Robbie Williams. Had a stinker on live German tv."

They also rallied for Robbie on X, formerly Twitter, with one commenting: "Clearly a mint or something in his mouth." A second said: "Slowed it right down. It came from his mouth."

Robbie himself has now spoken out about the moment and wasn't afraid to poke fun at himself. He confirmed it was in fact a mint and apologised for being "deeply unprofessional".

He quipped: "Just woke up and feeling. Mint. I would just like to apologise for the object that fell onto the microphone yesterday. It was deeply unprofessional and people worried about me. But it's okay because I had several more."

The Sun has reported that it was actually a chewed Nicorette mint which fell out of Robbie's mouth. A source said: "oor Rob woke up to hundreds of messages from pals and fans asking what on earth was going on.

"He was obviously a bit bemused before realising people had seen the Nicorette mint plopping from his mouth, and thinking it was something dodgy. Which, clearly, it was not."
