Beloved broadcaster Florence 'Flo' Anthony has passed away at the age of 74, her husband has confirmed. The celebrity journalist, known for her television appearances on programmes such as The Maury Povich Show, Fox News and CNN, also presented her own radio programmes and wrote a number of novels during her career.
Her famous husband, boxer Michael Spinks, confirmed the tragic news of her passing with a heartbreaking statement. Spinks, who claimed world titles in two weight divisions, revealed through his biographer Jack Hirsch that Flo died in the early hours of 6 August following a battle with cancer.
Tributes have since poured in for Flo as CNN reporter Lisa Respers France wrote: "As a black woman who covers pop culture, I am deeply indebted to Florence "Flo" Anthony."
"A syndicated columnist and author who did more than just cover gossip. She was so important to the culture."
"I was blessed to be social media friends with her and was tickled years ago when I ran into her in real life."
"I remember her commenting on one of my posts last year and a friend DMed me 'Is that really THE Flo Anthony?'"
"She rests with the ancestors now and I know she rests in power."
"Prayers for her husband, legendary boxer Michael Spinks, and all who love her," reports the Express.
Actress and television presenter Tammi Mac added: "WHAT? No f'in way. Flo calls my show weekly. Is this true?!"
Producer and entertainment solicitor James Walker said: "She was a client and business partner for years."
"We used to finance her magazine. This is so sad. I just loved her spirit and personality and coverage of our people in the media."
