Telly presenter Kirsty Gallacher is leading calls for Ricky Gervais to get a knighthood for donating 2.5m of his tour cash to animal charities.
The 49-year-old ex-Sky Sports News, Soccer AM and Ant & Decs Saturday Night Takeaway star posted a list of the 22 charities to benefit from the proceeds of the TV comics stand-up tour on Instagram. She added: Now this is someone who deserves a knighthood.
Kirsty added hand-clap and loveheart emojis. Legions of The Office, Extras and After Life stars fans agreed.
One posted on X: Ricky Gervais deserves a knighthood. We're nation of animal lovers.
Helping the animal charities is something that speaks for all of us & those who are struggling financially right now who would love to donate but simply can't.
I am so thrilled he's included help for stray dogs.
Another fan messaged: Ricky Gervais is a total legend.
Giving nearly 2.5 million to animal charities.
Sir Ricky has a nice twang to it.

Ricky, 64, said the donations were to celebrate the spirit of Christmas .
He posted on Facebook: These are the lovely charities I've chosen. Merry Xmas, critters.

No I can't mum. But I could've bought 30 speedboats and raced them round the Med with my mates.
Anyway. Too late now.
Gervais gave 1.9m to charity in 2023 after a previous tour.
Natalia George, founder of Flori's Friends Rescue which supplies wheelchairs for animals with broken spines and is getting 100,000 towards overheads and costs, said: This is absolutely incredible news.
I think Ricky was looking for an up-and-coming charity carrying out specialist work.
Our mission is to normalise disabilities in dogs.
Ricky has made such a difference to so many paralysed dogs.
Andy Foxcroft, chief executive officer of Safe Haven for Donkeys, said: Ricky's generosity comes at a time of exceptional pressure for our teams supporting donkeys in Gaza and the West Bank.
With demand for urgent veterinary care continuing to rise this donation will help us keep our life-saving work going in extremely challenging conditions.
Pen Farthing, founder and chief executive officer of Nowzad which delivers animal welfare in Afghanistan and Ukraine, said: We are just so chuffed that Ricky decided to donate some of that money to us."
