Celebrity Big Brother star and Hollywood actor Gary Busey has been sentenced to two years' probation after admitting he inappropriately touched a woman at a horror film convention. The 81-year-old was accused of touching a number of women at Monster-Mania Con in New Jersey in August 2022.
According to prosecutors, Point Break star Gary groped the bums of two women and tried to unhook another's bra. He allegedly asked her "where she got them".
The actor pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in August. He confirmed during his plea: "It was not an accidental touching."
At his sentencing, his attorney Blair Zwillman argued that his age, health issues and the fact he lived in California meant that probation was not needed.
Gary was left in a coma for 30 days after a motorcycle accident in 1988, causing him to have to relearn basic functions after suffering a severe brain injury.
Zwillman said: "He does have mild cognitive impairment and early dementia."
The attorney also claimed that, "without minimising the effect this may have had on the victim", the touching incident was not as serious as other sexual contact cases, as it took place during a photo shoot with fans and it was over clothing.
However Judge Gwendolyn Blue said via the Zoom hearing that there were several aggravating factors which applied.
These included past run-ins with the law, including a 2004 arrest in Malibu for trespass and disorderly conduct, and a hit and run in 2021.
Blue acknowledged Gary's medical issues and later age, but said the aggravating factors outweighed this.
The judge said: "Criminal sexual contact is a serious offense, and I've not heard anything to go against the plea agreement as entered."
Gary was ordered to serve two years of probation, pay supervision fees and fines, and give a DNA sample.
He must also have no contact with the victim, who gave an impact statement ahead of the sentencing.
Other charges against Gary was dropped as part of a plea agreement.
