Denise Richards' steamiest scenes in Wild Things were etched on the mind of many a teenager in the late 1990s.

But the is dead against her own teenage brood clapping eyes on them.

The actress, who celebrates her 52nd birthday today (February 17) said she had banned her three children from watching the 1998 erotic thriller, telling them: "I don't want you guys watching this!"

In John McNaughton's cult classic, Denise plays Kelly Lanier Van Ryan, a rich young upstart who joins forces with Suzie Toller (Neve Campbell) and Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillon) to extort money from her mum.

It's an action packed affair, but for many, there are two scenes in particular that stick in the memory.

In one, she starts fighting with Suzie in a swimming pool, but scrap ends with them stripping off and kissing passionately.

And it's not the even the raunchiest scene in the movie.

In another X-rated episode, she and her pal engage in a kinky threesome with Sam, making out with each other as well as him.

Denise goes topless for the scene, clearly showing her boobs.

And the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told Yahoo Lifestyle that three daughters kids, Sami, 18, Lola, 17, and Eloise, 11, are strictly prohibited from watching it, as as she's concerned.

"I just said, 'I would appreciate if you didn't watch it'. It's not age appropriate and it was a movie I did, it was a script I loved, it's me being creative," Denise said.

"I definitely did not give them a copy (of the film). I told them, "I don't want you guys watching this'."

The scenes clearly made a sizeable splash as Denise remained a regular feature among glossy men's magazines' top 100 sexiest women lists for the next few years.

In an intriguing case of life imitating art, years later, Denise had a same-sex tryst in real life.

She told The Howard Stern Show in 2011 that the woman in question was another celebrity, describing her as "beautiful" and "a girly girl", but stopped short of identifying her.

"I just met her through friends and work and stuff I was just curious. We were curious," Denise told Stern on the radio show.

Denise's stance on her kids watching her movie might come as a surprise after she recently joined her daughter Sami on OnlyFans, where she frequently flaunts her boobs and bum.

Denise is the ex-wife of former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen, 57, who is the dad of her eldest two children.

The couple divorced in November 2006 after four years of marriage.
