Kanye West has caused a stir once again after confirming he will be performing in Russia. Tickets for the events went on sale on Monday (August 17) and were completely sold out in less than an hour.
Controversial rapper Kanye, 49, has already landed himself in hot water on several occasions over the past year including a slew of antisemitic remarks and complete praise for Adolf Hitler. He has since apologised for his actions, pinning the blame on his bipolar disorder.
However, the impact of his comments has had far-reaching consequences, after he was dropped as the headline act for the Wireless Festival earlier this year. The entire festival ended up being cancelled after Kanye was dropped.
But despite fallout of the Stronger singer's actions, one country that has proven to show success for Kanye is Russia. Now, it has been confirmed that Kanye will perform two gigs in St. Petersburg in October in a new low for his career.
According to local media in Russia, Kanye is set to perform on October 10 and 11 at the city's Gazprom Arena. Tickets were put on sale for around 9,000 rubles equivalent to around 78, with VIP lounges going for 160,000 rubles around 1,400.
Now, it has been confirmed that all available tickets for the concert sold out in less than an hour after the gigs were announced. Any affordable tickets appeared to sell out within seconds, with floor tickets selling out immediately.
According to the stadium, traffic to try and snatch a ticket for the concert caused the website to crash several times as people desperately tried to get a ticket. Around 160,000 people are expected to pack into the arena to see the controversial star perform.
It comes as a major win to Kanye's musical career after a slew of cancellations due to his former antisemitic comments. Back in May, Kanye's headline appearance at the Pulse of Gaia festival in Italy. was cancelled due to his previous beliefs.
At the time, the prefect of the city of Reggio Emilia, Salvatore Angieri, pulled the plug on the entire festival. This later emerged after representatives from the local Jewish community shared their "concerns" over previous remarks Kanye had said about Jews.
West released a song titled Heil Hitler in 2025 and had previously marketed a swastika T-shirt through his website. He has also attracted severe backlash for publishing antisemitic posts and suggesting slavery was "a choice".
In January, West bought a full-page advert in the Wall Street Journal to offer an apology, with the headline: "To Those I've Hurt." He stated: "I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people."
