Love Island star Iain Stirling has admitted that the US series is raunchier than the UK version.

When asked what the biggest difference between the UK and the US series is, Iain had a very interesting answer.

He said: I think the US series is a bit raunchier! I think it is, yeah. I guess its not got the same critical mass, not as many eyes on it. A bit Love Island old school.

The first four seasons of the UK series was renowned for being full of fights, on screen antics and huge bust-ups.

Another major feature of those first few seasons was the presence of the Love Island villas smoking area.

The section was outside on the terrace and was the location of some of the biggest dramas in Love Island history.

Back in 2017, the show started receiving Ofcom complaints regarding the smoking area and it was consequently removed from the show.

Love Island used to show the islanders smoking

Iain admitted that he misses the smoking area, but agrees that it shouldnt be brough back for todays audiences.

Stirling confessed: As much as I have a nostalgic pang for the smoking area, ultimately its for everyonewasnt great [for] a show aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds - even if you didnt smoke, by the end people were smokers!

He even wondered if viewers of today would even relate to the iconic area of the villa.

Iain contemplated: I dont know if a 19-year-old today would associate with going to the smoking area to chat to someone, I dont know

The Love Island commentator also laughed about the fact that the smoking area does not exist in Love Island USA and the contestants arent all outside screaming at each other.

Iain also spoke about his wife Laura Whitmore, former Love Island host, and shared what the pair get up to in their spare time.

He confessed that Laura has done a few YouTube videos making FIFA teams with him, but its not really her bag.

Iain, who is an avid gamer himself, has recently teamed up with Virgin Media O2 to launch the Virgin Media Gamepad - a brand new, free to use space for gamers to play without limits - at The O2 in London.
