Tyson Fury is set to make his boxing comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11, marking the end of his year-long retirement.

The 37-year-old British boxing legend had announced his retirement last January, following his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk, but recently revealed his plans to return to the ring. Makhmudov, a formidable Russian knockout artist, will be Fury's opponent in the heavyweight showdown, which will be streamed live on Netflix from a yet-to-be-announced venue.

Earlier this week, Fury hinted the fight might take place at a football ground, with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium being a possible location. Fury expressed his excitement about his comeback, stating, "I'm excited to be back. My heart has always been and always will be in boxing.

"Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!" Makhmudov also shared his enthusiasm, saying: "I am thrilled about the opportunity. I'm coming to deliver a war. Tyson Fury has been a big champion. I will be more ready than ever to leave with a massive W."

Saudi boxing boss Turki Alalshikh reacted to the news, reports the Mirror. He said: "We are happy that Tyson decided to come out of retirement for what should be an exciting heavyweight clash against Makhmudov."

Gabe Spitzer, vice president of sports at Netflix, added: "I have long admired Tyson Fury as one of the most resilient and captivating boxers of his generation. His career has been defined by beating the odds, and there is an undeniable electricity whenever he fights.

"We are incredibly excited to see him come out of retirement for this massive homecoming, and we love giving our members a front-row seat to the next chapter of his legacy."

The 'Gypsy King' took to Instagram to share the official fight poster, captioning it: "Well it's official. I'm back doing what I love to do. I've brought the biggest network along with me @netflix @netflixuk this is going to be astronomical. Blessed by God."

In another post, he added: "Pumped up and ready to go now....... Blessed by God in Jesus name."

Fury spent the previous year away from the ring while filming the second series of his popular Netflix show 'At Home With The Furys', set to hit screens this spring. Alongside the hit series, Netflix is also producing Fury, described as "the definitive feature length documentary offering the raw, unfiltered life of one of the most compelling figures in sport and British culture".

Netflix is packing a punch in the boxing world, having streamed Jake Paul's clash with Mike Tyson, Katie Taylor's third bout with Amanda Serrano, and Canelo Alvarez's mega-fight with Terence Crawford last September. The streaming giant also recently aired Paul's contentious match against heavyweight legend Anthony Joshua.

Fury hasn't stepped into the ring on home turf since his decisive win over Derek Chisora in December 2022. Since the start of the new year, the ex-two-time heavyweight world champ has been honing his skills in Thailand.

Fury sees his comeback fight as an opportunity to get some vital rounds under his belt before a massive summer showdown, but Makhmudov won't be a walkover. The Russian powerhouse has knocked out opponents in 19 of his 21 career victories, and he outscored David Allen last October.

Earlier this year, Fury shed light on why he's lacing up his gloves again. "I have literally won everything from regional belts in England to super world titles... fighter of the year twice. Ring Magazine twice. WBC.... every one of them.

"Every world title I have fought for... for me, there is nothing else other than the fight game. I love this fight game. There is nothing in it for financial gain," he declared.

"I could have retired 10 years ago. I've made an absolute fortune. It's not about the money, although, I always want a good deal for sure. It's mainly about the love of the fight game and the sport. I'm 37, I'm 38 this year, I am older than a motherf*****, but I love to fight. I have zero other interests... only fighting.

"I was born and raised to fight My destiny lies within the fight game. And at the end of it all, I'll be punching like a motherf*****, and I'll probably be ending up in a wheelchair like the rest of them all. Punched to death, don't know if it's Tuesday, Wednesday or December, but it's the game I chose, it's the life we chose. This is the life I chose! We ain't stopping. We ain't f****** leaving."
