There's no doubt that Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky are arguably golf's most famous couple out on the links at the moment.

This weekend will see two-time major winner Johnson competing in the Open, one of golf's most prestigious tournaments. The 152nd edition of the major is set to take place at Royal Troon Golf Club in South Ayrshire, Scotland, with Johnson eager to add to his two major titles, having previously won the US Open in 2016 and the Masters in 2020.

The 40-year-old is one of golf's biggest names and has drawn plenty of flak for defecting from the PGA Tour to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf in the summer of 2022 for a whopping 103million contract.

But Johnson, and his stunning wife, Paulina Gretzky, the daughter of legendary ice hockey star Wayne Gretzky, don't seem to care too much about the critics of the golf star.

"I don't think Dustin would ever make bad choice [joining LIV Golf] for his children and people have to understand at the end of the day, that's who he chose this for," explained Gretzky on Netflix's golf documentary series 'Full Swing'.

"This is about Dustin and the kids and me and taking care of us and being there with us."

The all-star pair, who have a combined net worth of more than 80million, originally met back in 2009, before later going on to get engaged in 2013. Due to his impressive performances out on the course over the years, Johnson is worth 81m ($100m) while Gretzky is worth just more than 4m ($5m), according to Celebrity Net Worth.

They tied the knot in April 2022, getting married at a five-star resort in Tennessee, with Gretzky sharing a host of snaps from their big day to her 1m Instagram followers.

And while a merger between LIV Golf, the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour was said to have been agreed upon around this time last year, Johnson was adamant when he opted to join the Saudi-backed venture that he did so because of his family.

Johnson said in 2022: "I thought it was best for me and my family. I resign my membership of the PGA Tour."
