Ebanie Bridges suggests boxing match against Ronda Rousey as fans say 'I wish'

Despite Ebanie Bridges having to take on Avril Mathie next month, the Blonde Bomber is already looking ahead of her opponent as she eyes a boxing bout with UFC great Ronda Rousey

IBF female bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges is eyeing a lofty boxing match with UFC legend Ronda Rousey.

The 37-year-old is returning to the ring next month after a year out of the sport as she takes on compatriot Avril Mathie on December 9. While her fellow Aussie will certainly prove to be a tough test, the Blonde Bomber has her eyes set on a crossover boxing bout with MMA's greatest female pioneer in Ronda Rousey.

The former UFC women's bantamweight champion retired from the sport in 2016 after suffering back-to-back knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. Prior to her consecutive defeats, 'Rowdy' was on a 12-fight win streak as she became one of the most famous fighters on the planet.

She swapped the UFC for the WWE as she made her debut at WrestleMania 34 in 2018 before claiming gold at the pay-per-view, SummerSlam. The 36-year-old left the company earlier this year which Bridges seemingly saw as an opportunity to welcome the Olympic bronze medallist back to combat sports.

The Aussie posted a photoshopped photo of the pair squaring up against each other which she captioned: "Me vs @rondarousey in a Boxing Match what you saying? whats your predictions?" as fans gave their opinions on how a potential boxing bout would go between them.

One fan said a fight would be "pointless" as they said: "Well considering Ronda had some of the worse hands in MMA, it would be pretty pointless," while another said a boxing fight wouldn't go so well for the ex-UFC champion as they commented: "No. Stop this crossover s***. Anyways, if you have seen Ronda shadow box, you know she can't throw punches. Ronda will get stomped."

A third Instagram user was lonely in their comment, writing: "I wish." As a fourth had a different sort of activity for the pair as their comment read: "Rather see you 2 in collab on onlyfans". If the fight was to take place, it'd be Rousey's first ever venture into boxing.
