Alan Shearer mocks Gary Lineker's sex noises 'chaos' as fans love 'moment of the year'

We may be at the very start of 2023, but it will be very hard to find a funnier moment of live television than the sex noises that played out during the coverage of Liverpool's FA Cup victory over Wolves

Gary Lineker red-faced at sex noise prank on Match of the Day

Alan Shearer had a cheeky dig at Gary Lineker in the wake of the chaos caused by the sex noises that disrupted their coverage.

The England legends were left searching for a crumb of composure after some sex noises were played out loud while they were previewing the FA Cup replay between Wolves and Liverpool. Lineker only just managed to control his laughter, while a very sheepish Shearer was seemingly oblivious to the painfully loud noises

Soon after kick off, Lineker discovered the noises came from a phone that was taped behind one of their chairs. And in the wake of the chaos, Shearer saw the funny side by having a little cheeky jab at Lineker.

Lineker was in his usual hosting position for the contest, while Shearer was on co-commentary duty. At least they had control of things in the studio at half time, the Newcastle United legend laughed at the start of the second half.

See what happens when I leave the studio. Chaos. The BBC have already issued an apology about the utterly bizarre, but undoubtedly, hilarious situation. We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening, the statement began.

We are investigating how this happened. If the football world is anything to go by, many are not accepting the BBCs apology. That is because many football fans dont believe there is anything to apologise for as the situation was so entertaining and amusing to watch.

"Offended? This will be the TV moment of the year," one fan wrote on social media. "If anyones seriously offended by what happened theyve clearly got nothing else in life whatsoever to be angry about," another added.

"This was brilliant tv... please don't apologise, we all need a laugh at the minute," said one fan who may still be cackling at the incident. "Don't apologise it was the greatest piece of TV ever," tweeted one other very grateful viewer.

In and amongst the palpable embarrassment, Liverpool managed to overcome Wolves and secure their place in the fourth round. Harvey Elliott's wonder strike from around 30 yards out was enough to beat Julen Lopetegui's side at the Molineux.
