Aston Villa presenter Kate Tracey saw the funny side of a social media post claiming Chelsea poached her services.

The Blues have already acquired attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers in a club record 117million transfer and set-piece coach Austin MacPhee from Villa in two brutal blows for manager Unai Emery ahead of the new season.

A further raid on Villa from Chelsea was joked about on social media but not in regards to a player or a member or staff - instead on Tracey. The presenter - who has almost 79,000 followers on Instagram - fronts coverage for Aston Villa TV and Sky Sports Racing.

The tongue-in-cheek X post read: "BREAKING: Chelsea have reportedly met the release clause of #avfc TV host Kate Tracey. Tracey will become the new host of Chelsea TV for the 26-27 season. Personal terms believed not be an issue."

Other fans joined in on the fun with one X user writing: "They thought the 117m was only for Rogers" while another added: "We are snatching everything from villa". A third commented: "How did I know this was to come next?!!"

It certainly grabbed the attention of Tracey who took a screenshot of the claim on her For You page and wrote the caption: "You never quite know whatll greet you when you open up this app."

Just to further dispell any rumours of such a switch, Tracey took to platform to post a photo of herself wearing a claret-coloured dress - the main colour of Villa's home strip. She added the caption: "Felt it was necessary to wear this colour today" alongside the laughing emoji face.

Among the actual departures from Villa, MacPhee's absence will certainly be felt given the club's dominance in set-pieces under his tutelage. Villa scored the joint-most number of goals from set-pieces (29) alongside Arsenal this past season.

Rogers, 24, will team up with former Manchester City team-mate Cole Palmer at Stamford Bridge as he admitted his delight in signing for the Blues. Upon his arrival, he said: "I'm so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I've always admired since I was a kid.

"I'm really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we've got and where the club is heading. That's why I'm here and I can't wait to get started."
