Championship star requires oxygen and left in tears after sickening injury

Stoke City's Championship game away against Hull City was halted for several minutes after one of the visiting players suffered a serious injury that left him in tears and requiring oxygen

Stoke City's Robert Bozenik suffered a major injury

Stoke City's trip to Hull City in the Championship suffered a lengthy delay after Robert Bozenik sustained a serious injury.

The Potters led 1-0 at the MKM Stadium thanks to a first-half goal from Bozenik, but the forward was forced off just minutes into the second half.

Bozenik was left in agony on the pitch after suffering a shoulder injury when he landed heavily under a challenge. The 26-year-old required the help of Stoke's medical team to leave the pitch after Sky Sports reported he received oxygen for the pain.

Cameras showed Bozenik leaving the pitch in tears with his shirt pulled up over his elbow to support his arm as he was guided from the field of play.

Stoke posted about the injury on their X page: "City are forced into a change following a lengthy delay in play as Boenk is replaced by Gallagher."

The severity or extent of Bozenik's injury remains unclear but it was a troubling sight for fans watching on, who have sent best wishes to the striker on social media.

One user wrote on X: "Absolutely devastated for Robert Bozenik. He was absolutely sensational today. Fast recovery." Asecond echoed: "I found that Really upsetting hope bozenik has a speedy recovery absolutely gutted see that."

A third said: "Bozenik breaking his little heart is so sad, hes played so well." Another added: "Speedy recovery Bozenik. Gutted for him."

The Slovenian had earlier opened the scoring when he was at the back post to tap in Sorba Thomas' shot across the face of goal.

Bozenik joined Stoke in the summer from Portuguese side Boavista on a three-year deal. His strike in the first half was his first goal for the club.

Stoke headed to East Yorkshire off the back of three games without a win to take on Hull, who had put a run together of four wins from five to climb into the play-offs.
