Bruno Fernandes has acknowledged that Manchester United must sharpen up in front of goal if they want to achieve success, following their Premier League loss to Arsenal.
United squandered several opportunities at Old Trafford, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu all going close. This profligacy ultimately proved costly for Ruben Amorim's team as Riccardo Calafiori's header secured all three points for the Gunners.
United fielded both Mbeumo and Cunha in attack following their expensive transfers from Brentford and Wolves respectively. Both players had opportunities to find the net on their debuts, but David Raya produced two excellent saves to deny them.
After the break, new recruit Benjamin Sesko was introduced for his first appearance, though the striker found it difficult to help United penetrate Arsenal's defensive structure.
Despite an encouraging performance against one of the Premier League's stronger teams, Fernandes pinpointed the area requiring improvement.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, the United skipper said: "We created some chances but we didn't score so that is the main negative of the day," reports the Manchester Evening News.
He added: "We have a big hope for what we want to do and what we want to achieve.
"There are positive things to look at like scoring goals.

"I really liked the reaction of the fans at the end.
"I really appreciate what they did. That was more a sign of hope than what we did during the game."
United also appeared threatening with Amad and Patrick Dorgu operating as wing-backs. Nevertheless, the match was decided after Altay Bayindir's mistake allowed Calafiori to nod home during the opening period.
