Medics rush to World Cup cameraman after brutal collision with Premier League star

Medics quickly arrived to help the cameraman, who was left in pain on the ground after being accidentally struck by Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov during the Colombia vs Uzbekistan World Cup clash

Medical staff raced to assist an injured cameraman who became caught up in a collision involving Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov during the World Cup encounter between Colombia and Uzbekistan.

The dramatic moment unfolded live on television in the 34th minute of the match. Khusanov was pursuing a loose ball alongside Luis Diaz. The defender arrived second to the ball, resulting in a collision between the pair that sent Khusanov careering into the unsuspecting cameraman.

The City defender swiftly returned to his feet and received a yellow card for the challenge. However, the cameraman remained on the turf and appeared to be clutching his leg as assistance arrived.

Medical personnel immediately rushed to provide aid. While no official update has been provided regarding the severity of the injury, commentator Jacqui Oatley, working for American broadcaster FOX Sports, offered an update during the second half.

"In case you're wondering about the cameraman, he's disappeared. He must've really hurt his ankle," she said.

The incident occurred just moments before Colombia broke the deadlock, with Daniel Munoz finding the net in the 40th minute. Uzbekistan drew level in the second period through Abbosbek Fayzullaev.

Nevertheless, parity lasted merely five minutes before Luiz Diaz put Colombia back in front. Jaminton Campaz then wrapped up all three points for Colombia in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

The outcome sees Colombia leading group K, following the 1-1 stalemate between Portugal and DR Congo earlier in the day.

The upcoming fixtures in the group are Portugal vs Uzbekistan (June 23, 6pm) and Colombia vs DR Congo (June 24, 3am).

The cameraman's mishap wasn't the only injury of the day, with Oatley revealing that Co-commentator Warren Barton ended up with a gash on his head after being struck by a bottle during the match. It has been confirmed that the former England international is doing fine.
