Cristiano Ronaldo says he felt betrayed

Cristiano Ronaldo hit back at former Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney during his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

The football icon has blasted his treatment by the Old Trafford club, saying he feels betrayed. Among his critics has been fellow club legend Rooney, who has urged United to get rid of the Portuguese star on several occasions.

Ronaldo said he does not understand why Rooney has taken such a stance. He told Morgan: I dont know why he criticises me so badly probably because he finished his career and Im still playing at high level.

Ronaldo added: Im not going to say that Im looking better than him. Which is true

Rooney has said Ronaldo is proving a distraction for United and wants to see the team rebuilt without the 37-year-old.

Him and Messi are arguably the two best players of all-time and you can go either way with that, whatever way you decide, Rooney told talkSPORT recently.

But I just think the things he has done from the start of season, it is not acceptable for Manchester United.

Ive seen Roy Keane defending him. Roy wouldnt accept that. Roy wouldnt accept that at all.

It is a distraction which Manchester United dont need at the minute, trying to rebuild. For Cristiano, just get your head down and work and be ready to play when the manager needs you.

If he does that, he will be an asset. If he doesnt, it will become an unwanted distraction.
