Danny Murphy has answered all our prayers with an update on Bob the cat

Danny Murphy stole the spotlight from Erling Haaland and Norway in their win against Ivory Coast on Tuesday night (June 30) when he bizarrely began talking about his runaway cat named Bob.

As Fulham star Oscar Bobb was subbed on for Norway on the 72nd minute, Murphy was heard telling BBC commentator Steve Bower about his former cat pal.

Murphy continued: "Yeah he jumped in the back of a Royal Mail van and we lost him." And with incredible comedic timing added: "Sad, really."

Now after becoming the biggest story for World Cup and BBC fans this week, the former Liverpool midfielder finally gave a much needed update and conclusion to the story. And we must say that it is quite the short but emotional rollercoaster like the original tale.

Murphy confirmed Bob did come home but he was no longer the same cat after "six or seven weeks" away. The BBC commentator said Bob had since gone "feral" and was rehomed in Preston. Sadly, Murphy confirmed Bob has since passed.

While addressing the huge reaction to the story during Spain vs Austria, he said: "Surprisingly there was a lot of interest... we did get him back six or seven weeks later. Unfortunately he had gone feral and we couldn't reintegrate him in the home and he ended up living with my friend's parents in Preston.
