Jeff Stelling was aghast the BBC Match of the Day pundits did not analyse Newcastle United's controversial second penalty against West Ham United.
The Magpies' stunning 4-3 comeback victory against the Hammers was the first match on the traditional Premier League highlights programme. Eddie Howe's side overturned a 3-1 deficit to overcome David Moyes' shell-shocked men 4-3 at St James' Park.
However, the clash was marred by controversy as Alexander Isak scored two controversial penalties, the second of which providing Newcastle with the perfect platform to eliminate the Europa Conference League winners' lead. Considering the enormity of the decision, Stelling could not believe Alex Scott, Stephen Warnock and Martin Keown were not told to analyse the moment by the show's producers.

Beleaguered Hammers' midfielder Kalvin Phillips was the fall guy for the East Londoners again. The Manchester City loanee swiped his leg to clear the ball away, but did not see Anthony Gordon nip in front of him, resulting in the ex-City star cleaning the England international out.
When Isak scored the penalty, West Ham's lead was halved from 3-1 to 3-2. Harvey Barnes then went on to score an equaliser before bending an extraordinary winner into the far corner to complete a memorable comeback.

The decision split Premier League fans down the middle, with many fans thinking it was a stone-wall penalty and others believing Phillips was hard done by. Yet, to Stelling's fury, the decision was not pontificated upon by the pundits.
The former Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host said: "Interesting that MOTD decided the second Newcastle pen was not worth discussing despite it being probably the most controversial decision of the weekend. Not the fault btw of Alex Scott just terrible production decision."

The result injected new life into Newcastle's bid for securing European football for the second consecutive season. Howe's side have endured a difficult season, finishing bottom of a tough Champions League group and crashing out of the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Newcastle have been hit by injury after injury since the start of the campaign. Miguel Almiron, Tino Livramento and Jamsal Lescelles all limped off injured during the home clash.
