The Daily Star: News with a Wink

Outfield player two inches taller than Peter Crouch gets Championship move

Kyle Hudlin stands at 6ft 9in, taller than iconic former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, and has now been unveiled as Huddersfield Town's latest signing of the summer transfer window

Huddersfield have announced the signing of Kyle Hudlin from Solihull Moors

An outfield footballer who stands two inches taller than Peter Crouch has earned a move to Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Kyle Hudlin is 6ft 9in tall and plays as a striker, spending just under two years with National League club Solihull Moors. He scored 13 goals for the Moors as they reached the promotion play-off final last season.

He is considered to be the tallest outfield player in England and is likely to leave Championship defenders scared of his aerial ability. Huddersfield will pay an undisclosed fee to the Moors, with Hudlin linking up with their B team.

Hudlin has signed a two-year deal with the Terriers, who also have the option of extending that by an extra year. While he is mostly known for his height, the 22-year-old was at pains to make it clear he had other attributes.

Im not your average 69 striker! I feel like people will definitely recognise me for being more technical than Im known for being beneficial in the air, but I believe towards the back end of this season especially, Ive developed that area of my game as well," he told HTTV.

Its something thats been recognised because its never been an area of my game that Ive had to work on, Ive always had the advantage of being taller! I definitely believe that Im starting to find a balance of both and being here and the development that Ill get from the staff here, Ill be able to reach the limits of using my cheat code lets say.

Huddersfield are also excited to get their hands on Hudlin, following his impressive performances for Solihull. Their head of academy recruitment Lee Mellor hailed Hudlin before explaining their plan for the striker's development.

Kyle is a very interesting player one we are delighted to welcome to the Club. Hes had a fantastic rise to this position already, but we still feel there is a lot more to come from him," he said.

"It was clear from our conversations that he has real self-belief and a determination to succeed, which is hugely important to making the most of his potential. We have plenty of options for what is the correct next step for Kyle. I'm excited to see his progress over the coming years.
