Liverpool have been handed encouragement in their pursuit of a blockbuster signing to replace club legend Mohamed Salah.
The Reds have had a slow and underwhelming summer transfer window so far, with the only acquisitions being two young players, Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, and French defensive prospect Jeremy Jacquet, whose signing was agreed in January.
During a summer where the Merseyside giants need to replace first-team regulars, including Salah and Ibrahima Konate, and add players to an understocked, injury-hit squad, concerned fans will be hoping new manager Andoni Iraola is soon presented with top quality and experienced options. Liverpool target Bradley Barcola has signalled his desire to depart the reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The Reds have been pursuing the winger for considerable time and French publication Mercato has reported the player, who has two years remaining on his Paris contract, is no longer in talks with his club regarding fresh terms, reports the Mirror.
A significant hurdle for Liverpool, though, is the enormous fee PSG have placed on the 23-year-old forward.
PSG consider that an eye-watering 140million represents a reasonable assessment of his worth, given his standing and the present market, referencing Morgan Rogers' 117m transfer to Chelsea.
The Daily Mail has stated the Reds are looking for a reduction on the 140m asking price, with the France international willing to enter discussions with Liverpool. The Reds turned to Barcola as they seek to find Mohamed Salah's replacement.
The Egyptian talisman departed the club this summer and their bid to secure Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig collapsed, with the player now potentially heading to Real Madrid.
Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to land Liverpool transfer target Diomande for 115m.
The Spanish giants have struck a deal to acquire the Ivory Coast international from RB Leipzig, after finally coming to terms with the Bundesliga outfit.
Liverpool had been touted with a move for the 19-year-old and examined a potential deal earlier in the summer.
However, the Reds were reluctant to meet Leipzig's valuation, seeing an 85m offer rejected and choosing not to return with an enhanced proposal.
PSG were also interested amid suggestions that Diomande had settled personal terms, but they failed to match the transfer fee.
Real's 85.4m approach for Diomande was knocked back by Leipzig on Friday. Then PSG are said to have had a final 102.5m bid rejected for the teenager on Sunday.
Los Blancos are thought to have tabled a second offer of around 115m and talks are ongoing, according to talkSPORT. Diomande is understood to have agreed a five-year contract with the Spanish powerhouse.
