A Manchester United star is 'buzzing' to get started with Bradford after completing a loan until the end of the season.
Ethan Wheatley had been widely tipped to join the Bantams but witnessed the transfer drag on until deadline day. The Manchester Evening News reported three weeks ago that Wheatley was poised to sign for Bradford.
The 20-year-old was brought back from Northampton last month with plans to send him out on loan once more. The England youth international clocked up 22 appearances for the Cobblers, netting three goals and registering three assists.
Wheatley has also featured four times for United during his career and had a loan spell at Walsall last term, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Prior to finalising his switch to Bradford, there was a brief moment of drama last week when Doncaster boss Grant McCann claimed the club had secured Wheatley's signature. McCann appeared to be announcing another team's signing during his press conference.
However, with the deal now completed, Wheatley is eager to begin. The move sees the youngster transfer from a loan with a relegation battler to a promotion contender.
Wheatley feels he progressed at Northampton and is keen to apply what he learnt with the Bantams.
He said, "I am buzzing. We have been in discussions for quite a while, and I am excited to get the deal done and hopefully help the lads for the rest of the season.
"I hope I can add to the side after the strong start they have made and score goals. The last couple of months at Northampton, I grew as a player, and I want to continue doing that here."
Bradford's gaffer Graham Alexander is equally chuffed with his new recruit's eagerness.
"We are delighted to bring Ethan in to bolster our attacking options," Alexander expressed.
"He has fantastic attributes for a forward player, with plenty of League One games under his belt this season already.
"He showed a great desire to join us when we spoke, and I believe he is going to enjoy his time with us."
