Manchester United and Michael Carrick will be looking to increase their work on the transfer front after defeat against Ruben Amorim's AC Milan.
United acted to bring in Andrey Santos from Chelsea for 50m and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for 35m, but the Red Devils' transfer business has stalled in recent weeks. And it's understood Michael Carrick's side are still seeking to recruit another central midfielder before the transfer window shuts.
However, United are also looking at strengthening their backline after conceding four against Milan just a week out from the start of their Premier League campaign against Hull City. Here, the Daily Star Sport looks at the latest news from Old Trafford.

Manchester United's prolonged chase of Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae appears to have encountered a major obstacle. The South Korea international has reportedly reached a conclusive decision about his future amid continued interest from the Red Devils.
Despite occasionally finding himself out of favour under Bayern manager Vincent Kompany, the centre-back remains entirely dedicated to battling for his position in Germany. According to BILD, the 29-year-old is perfectly content with his current situation and harbours no intention of pushing for a transfer overseas.
This represents a disappointing setback for United, who have tracked the defender closely since his championship-winning spell at Napoli. With the player approaching 30 in November, it appears extremely doubtful he will ever turn out at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, a significant squad restructure at AC Milan could provide United with the opportunity to finally secure long-standing target Christopher Nkunku. Former Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim, now in charge at the San Siro, has reportedly declared the French striker expendable following a disappointing pre-season campaign.
United have kept tabs on the adaptable forward for years, stretching back to Ralf Rangnick's spell in 2022. A transfer failed to materialise at that time, and Nkunku subsequently endured a troubled period at Chelsea before linking up with the Serie A club.
With Amorim now approving his exit, the Old Trafford bosses have been handed a perfect chance to strengthen their forward line. Whether Michael Carrick's team will submit an official bid remains uncertain, but the prospect of landing a long-coveted talent may prove irresistible.
