Michelle Keegan showed her support for hometown football club Stockport County by starring in their recent video, but now she is helping them raise money for the NHS

Michelle Keegan sends heartfelt thank you to Our Girl viewers

Stunning actress Michelle Keegan has shown her support for the NHS in her hometown by donating thousands after providing the voiceover for Stockport County's new kit.

The new strip for the National League side promotes the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust on the sleeve, after the club donated 75,000 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Stockport released an emotional video at the start of June titled We Are County: The Next Chapter to show how they are moving on from the postponements that have seriously affected non-league football.

Former Coronation Street star Keegan provided the voiceover for the two minute trailer.

But she also donated her appearance fee to the charity, raising Stockports total to 89,000.

Club owner Mark Stott said: We cannot thank our local NHS enough for their heroic work during these difficult times.

As a community Club we will do everything we can to support our local healthcare and key workers.

We would like to thank Michelle for supporting our efforts and look forward to welcoming her to Edgeley Park next season.

While Louise Robson, Chief Executive of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, added: Stockport County FC have been a huge source of support to us ever since the start of the Covid-19 public health emergency, and its wonderful to see that continue with the donations from their shirt sponsorship.

Were proud to see our logo on their shirts, and wed like to say a big thank you to everyone at the club, and to Michelle Keegan too, for all they have done for us.

Stockport are making a donation to the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust for every shirt they sell.

Having risen to prominence as Tina McIntyre in the iconic ITV soap Coronation Street, Keegan is also well known for her role as Sergeant Georgie Lane in the BBC drama series Our Girl.
