'My FPL team got 65 points in gameweek one Here's what AI thinks I should do next'

The Premier League is back and with it comes a frantic checking of team news on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning to find out if any of your Fantasy Premier League players are injured

Having now seen the first weekend of the Premier League completed, many FPL players are left wondering do I really need to use my wildcard? or is this just a blip?

Many FPL bosses will be pretty chuffed if you had Chris Wood, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Kudus - basically all those who scored this weekend.

I feel somewhat in the middle after forgetting about the dreaded Friday deadline for the Premier League opener costing me points with Man City's Joko Gvardiol being injured.

But having 65 points and sitting around second (top of one of them) in most of the Classic Leagues I am in, I can't complain too much.

However, it's time to pause the min-celebrations and get back to it as gameweek two is here already, and the question is - what can I do next?

Do I use my gut? Do I look for advice in the punditry from former Plymouth and Birmingham boss Wayne Rooney on Match of the Day? or do ask Artificial Intelligence?

Please Help me AI

Many FPL users apparently asked AI to originally put their teams together, but I did not do that, I used my instincts. However, I did get suckered into an ask AI to rate my team from a TikTok advert and the one you are about to see below with my points total from last weekend got a ridiculous (in my opinion) 46 out of 100.

I can only think AI did not have the same hopes in Kudos and Hugo Ekitike like I did.

Now for gameweek two and my glaring error still remains from week one - Gvardiol.

To not show any baise to any AI chatbot, I took my FPL issue to Grok and ChatGPT.

Elon Musk's Grok I thought might know more about American Football than real football but was left pleasantly surprised. It's solution to my problem was Nottingham Forest's Murillo, which is not that bad of any option. The reason for him was because Crystal Palace and West Ham in the next two games look "favourable".

ChatGPT on the other hand gave me a list eight potential replacements with the top two being Virgil van Dijk James Tarkowski (Guess ChatGPT missed the Leeds game). However, the one thing that left doubts with ChatGPT was the fact it said Loc Lacroix is solid for Nottingham Forest.

So putting this system to the test, I have trusted Grok and stuck Murillo in for Gvardiol.

I also asked both AI bots who to captain and they both agreed on Erling Haaland. So the Man City striker remains my captain for another week.

So now Daily Star readers, we sit and wait to see if AI really can help us improve.

But, I was not the only Daily Star staff member to decide to turn to AI for help this week.

Here is how it helped (or mostly didn't help) my fellow colleagues:

Richard Brown - Assistant Editor

My optimism for a new season of fantasy football and the commitment to not let my team fall by the wayside lasted until about 1.45pm on Saturday.

Ezri Konsa got sent off, and I was left staring down the barrel of an incredibly underwhelming week one performance, saved only by Chris Wood.

Richard Brown's team managed to get 47 points

So off I went to my friend and yours, ChatGPT for help...

Unfortunately, however, it didn't go according to plan!

After explaining my situation (one free transfer and 0 in the bank), ChatGTP wrongly classified Chelsea's Joao Pedro as a midfielder, telling me to swap him out for Cole Palmer.

Once I'd politely pointed out this issue, the robot then suggested that I look to transfer in such well-known Premier League strikers as Luton's Elijah Adebayo, Stoke's Divin Mabuma and Birmingham's Jay Stansfield...

Once again, I fought back and flagged the inaccuracies. ChatGPT said: "Lets reset and give you clear, correct advice that makes sense with the actual FPL player pool."

Maybe I was finally getting somewhere? It then suggested Sheffield United's Cameron Archer...maybe not. I think I'll stick to pot luck and guesswork after all.

Will Schofield - Senior Sports Journalist

Straight of the bat, Will confesses: "I also forgot to change my captain... I didn't back Joao Pedro over Haaland."

Just imagine the points he could have had.

Will already confessed to a huge error by forgetting to select his captain

Again turning to ChatGPT, we saw it not take into account recent moves unless you asked it to update itself on transfers - which it actually does to a point.

Now with zero in the bank, Will's choices are a bit limited but the suggestion from the AI bot was to replace Alex Moreno with either Udogie or Pinnock. It also suggested At-Nouri who it says is at Wolves and cost a lot less than he does this year.

Swapping out Wirtz for Mbeumo or Eze was also mentioned but the bot was way off on its pricing.

Will has not yet made up his mind on gameweek two changes.

Cameron Winstanley -

Cam, who says he got 59 points last week, choose ChatGPT for advice this week.

It did not start well when ChatGPT was trying to advise him on a player called "Josh Watkins"

We have to trust Cam on this one but he says he got 59 points

However, it did give some actual recommendations by suggesting the mysterious "Josh Watkins" for Haaland, Mohammed Salah (not the right position) or Chris Wood. Although he can only make one transfer, Brighton's Mitoma was also mentioned as one to bring in.

Cam did not disclose whether he has made any changes at the time of writing.
