Newcastle legend wants Magpies to sign Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for Europe push

Newcastle United are enjoying one of their greatest campaigns in recent memory, and one former Magpie believes they should make it extra special in the transfer window

Newcastle United legend Nobby Solano has told the Magpies to sign Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

Eddie Howes side are enjoying an incredible campaign this season. The Toon currently have a strong grip on third position in the Premier League and have one foot in the Carabao Cup final, having dispatched Southampton in the first leg of the semi-final.

Newcastle command the best defence in the division and have only lost one Premier League match all season. However, Solano believes they could all but secure their long-awaited status in the Champions League by signing Kane and Son.

Ive got two, Solano said to William Hill and Footy Accumulators podcast, No Tippy Tappy Football, when asked which players he wants to see the Magpies sign. Ive been watching a little bit and would love to see Harry Kane and Heung-min Son in black and white.

Somebody told me Newcastle had unlimited cash! If they signed him [Harry Kane], theyd definitely finish in the Champions League.

Hes still quite young at 29, and hes just a phenomenal player.

Kane is enjoying a very impressive Premier League campaign, contributing 16 goals and one assist in 21 appearances this season, while Son has notched four goals and three assists in 19 appearances.

Despite their stuttering form, Tottenham are still firmly in the race for the top four. They are only three points away from fourth placed Manchester United and Newcastle in third. But while the Magpies do not appear to be faltering any time soon, Solano still believes their focus should be on winning the League Cup.

I think Newcastle will finish in the Europa League places, he said. Its more important for them to win a trophy the fans are desperate for any piece of silverware. Theyve now got a wonderful opportunity to win the League Cup, so Eddie [Howe] will have everyone including myself supporting them. I think the fans deserve it, theyre lovely people!

Theyve got a great chance against Southampton, who arent in the best of places in the league, so its a brilliant opportunity for them to finally win some silverware this season.
