'Raheem Sterling is an entitled plonker and Chelsea have every right to force him out'

BRENT A GOB: It's an all-Chelsea affair this week as our resident ranter Harry Brent takes aim at Raheem Sterling and his explosive public statement, as well as the Blues' bonkers transfer strategy

What a plonker Raheem Sterling is.

Since joining Chelsea the blokes been more of an estate agent in shin pads than a footballer. He turns up, does absolutely bugger-all, then waltzes off with a massive cheque in his back pocket.

How can someone whos made Mykhalio headless chicken Mudryk look like a shrewd signing have the audacity to get the hump when his club tells him to take a hike? His sense of entitlement must be bigger than Cristiano Ronaldos when theres a 40-yard free-kick to blast into Row Z.

Instead of wasting time drafting petty, counterproductive statements, maybe Mr. Sterling should focus on oh, whats that thing footballers earning 300k-a-week are supposed to do? Ah yes, playing well .

He hasnt been mistreated; if anything its the other way around. Like Roberto Martinez in international management hes been stealing a living lately, and Chelsea have every right to sling his hook.

Blues aren't brutal

People keep saying Chelsea are being brutal by exiling their unwanted stars, but unlike Todd Boehly with literally any player, Im not buying it.

Sure, their transfer strategy is madder than Jurgen Klopp gets when someone mentions the words "early kick-off", and yeah, sticking academy graduates in the reserves to force them out is a bit villainous.

But since when have clubs been honour-bound to give their youngsters a forever home? Theyre not rescue dogs; theyre multi-millionaires with more privileges than Salt Bae at the World Cup final.

Chelsea's transfer strategy might be bonkers, but it isn't 'brutal'(Image: IKIMAGES/AFP via Getty Images)

Besides, last time I checked, Conor Gallagher bagged himself a cheap move to a La Liga-challenging side playing Champions League football. How is that brutal when the alternative was twiddling his thumbs on Chelseas bench?

Then theres Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah, who a decade ago wouldve been on their sixth-consecutive loan to Vitesse Arnhem, and Ben Chilwell, whos got the fitness record of a paraplegic.

It's simple. If you arent good enough, you dont get to keep your job just because youre trying hard. We cant all be as lucky as Erik ten Hag.

It's recruitmental!

I stuck up for Chelsea earlier, but there's no defending their so-called recruitment plan - much like theres no defending when a winger runs at Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Honestly, how could anyone look at their overstuffed squad and think spending 46m on Joao Felix - whose previous stint at the club gave Meghan Markle a run for her money as one of the worst UK loan spells in recent memory - was sensible?

Plus, theyve splashed about 80million on five new goalkeepers who wouldnt get on Manchester City's bench, let alone in their first team. Thats about as dumb as starting consecutive seasons without a shirt sponso oh wait a minute.

Smashing six past Wolves wont paper over the cracks either, because theyre a bigger shambles than Jermaine Jenas text history.
